Swedish Short Course Swimming Championships
The Swedish Short Course Swimming Championships ( sv, Svenska mästerskapen i kortbanesimning) are annually in late November in an indoor 25m pool. The championships sometimes also works as trials for the World Championships and European Short Course Swimming Championships. Swimmers representing Swedish swim teams may participate. Non-Swedish swimmers who have participated include Anthony Ervin and Attila Czene. History The first Swedish Short Course Swimming Championships was swum in 1953 in Stockholm, but the first Swedish Swimming Championship was held in 1899. On the first championship, the events were 50 m freestyle, 200 m backstroke, 100 m butterfly and 4×50 m freestyle relay for men and women. Swimmers from SK Neptun won three of the events, while SK Poseidon's swimmers won two. Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one's entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water (e.g., in a sea or lake). Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley. In addition to these individual events, four swimmers can take part in either a freestyle or medley relay. A medley relay consists of four swimmers who will each swim a different stroke, ordered as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. Swimming each stroke requires a set of specific techniques; in competition, there are distinct regulations concerning the acceptable form for each individual stroke. Thomas Lejdström
Thomas Lejdström (born 31 May 1962) is a former Swedish freestyle and medley swimmer, who competed in the 1980 and 1984 Summer Olympics. In 1984 Lejdström won a bronze medal in 4×100 m freestyle relay along with Bengt Baron, Mikael Örn and Per Johansson. Nicknamed ''Lejan'' his best individual result at the Olympics is a 7th place at 200 m freestyle in 1980. Lejdström is the father of the Swedish Youth Olympics swimmer Gustav Åberg Lejdström. Borlänge SS
Borlänge is a locality in Dalarna County, Sweden with 44,898 inhabitants as of 2020. It is the seat of the Borlänge Municipality with a total population of 51,604 inhabitants as of 2017. History Originally Borlänge was the name of a tiny village, and the first historical information about it is from 1390. The village was insignificant up until about 1870.
