Swedish Game Awards
Swedish Game Awards is Sweden's largest video game development competition. It has been held annually since 2002 and is organized by the student-driven, non-profit entrepreneurship association at the Royal Institute of Technology, Excitera. The competition's audience is students at Swedish universities and high schools, particularly those studying game development and software engineering. Funding is handled through partnerships with various software and game development companies, e.g. Digital Illusions CE and Sun Microsystems. History Swedish Game Awards started in 2002 as a PC-only game competition under the name KTH Game Awards, and was targeted mainly at students in the Stockholm area. Defunct (video Game)
''Defunct'' is an indie adventure video game developed by the Swedish indie video game development studio Freshly Squeezed from Visby. Defunct received several nominations at the 2014 Swedish Game Awards including Game of the Year, which it went on to win. The game was also nominated for Best Student Project at the 2014 Unity Awards. In March 2015, it was announced that Freshly Squeezed had signed a publishing deal with the Dutch video game publisher SOEDESCO. The release date was originally expected to be in Q3, 2015, for PC. However, the release date was pushed back and released on Steam on January 29, 2016. In December 2017, the game was released for PS4 and Xbox One. In January 2018 it was added to the Windows Store. These ports were done by Soedesco Studios, the in-house porting studio of SOEDESCO. On September 13, 2018, a port for the Nintendo Switch was released. ''Fret Nice'' is a platform game developed by Pieces Interactive AB and published by Tecmo. The game was released on Xbox Live Arcade on February 4, 2010, and PlayStation Network on February 24, 2010. The game was designed to use a guitar controller, but can also be played using a normal gamepad. Players control the "Vibrant Chords", a rock band duo, as they traverse side-scrolling stages while avoiding enemies and hazards. Kian Bashiri
Kian Bashiri (born in 1987) is a Swedish video game developer and programmer, best known for the IGF Innovation Award-nominated metagame '' You Have To Burn The Rope'' released in 2008. He started making Flash games in 1999 and continued to play around with the software for many years before deciding he wanted to be a professional games developer. Bashiri attended Stockholm University and the School of Future Entertainment where he studied computer game development.
