Sweden At The 2022 Winter Olympics
Sweden competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, from 4 to 20 February 2022. Oliwer Magnusson and Emma Nordin were the country's flagbearers during the opening ceremony. Meanwhile biathlete Elvira Öberg was the flagbearer during the closing ceremony. With eight gold medals and 18 medals in total, this was Sweden's most successful Winter Olympics of all time in terms of both gold and total number of medals, beating the previous records set in 2018 and 2014, respectively. It marked the first time Sweden won medals in six different sports at the Winter Games, and they managed to win gold medals in these sports. Additionally, the country won its first (and second) gold medal in freestyle skiing, first gold medals in speed skating since 1988, and became the first country to win medals in all three events in curling at the same Winter Olympics. Speed skating at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held at the National Speed Skating Oval ("Ice Ribbon") in Beijing, China between 5 and 19 February 2022. It was the 24th time speed skating was held at the Winter Olympics (17th time for women). A total of 166 quota spots (83 per gender) were distributed to the sport, a decline of 14 from the 2018 Winter Olympics. For the first time, gender equality was achieved in terms of quotas. A total of 14 events were contested, seven for men and seven for women. Qualification A total quota of 166 athletes was allowed to compete at the Games (maximum 83 men and 83 women). Oskar Eriksson
Oskar Ingemar Eriksson (born 29 May 1991) is a Swedish curler from Karlstad. He currently plays third for the Niklas Edin rink. He is the first curler in history to win four Olympic medals – gold, silver, and two bronze – and the first to secure two Olympic medals in different curling disciplines in the same Olympic Games. Niklas Edin
Johan Niklas Edin (born 6 July 1985) is a Swedish curler. He currently resides in Karlstad, which has been his curling home base since 2008. He holds several sport distinctions. He is the first and the only skip in World Curling Federation (WCF) history to win three Olympic medals – gold (2022), silver (2018), and bronze (2014) – and to skip men's curling teams to six World Men's Curling Championship medals (2013, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022). The women's ski cross competition in freestyle skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 17 February, at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou. Hanna Öberg (born 2 November 1995) is a Swedish biathlete. Career In 2017 she won the IBU Female Rookie of the Year Award for her World Cup debut season, with the male counterpart being awarded to her fellow Swede Sebastian Samuelsson. At the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics she won a surprising gold in the Individual, after four clean shootings. It was both the first victory and podium of her career, with her previous best being a fifth place in the world cup. She also claimed silver in the Relay, finished seventh in sprint, and fifth in both the mass start and the pursuit.
