Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar
Sir Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar OBE, FNI, FASc, FRS, FRIC, FInstP (21 February 1894 – 1 January 1955) was an Indian colloid chemist, academic and scientific administrator. The first director-general of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), he is revered as the "father of research laboratories" in India. He was also the first Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC). In 1958, to honour his name and legacy, the Indian Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) instituted the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology for scientists who have made significant contributions in various branches of science. Shikha Swaroop (born 23 October 1968) is an Indian actress, and a former Miss India International winner. While still in college, she tied Miss India International in 1988 with Shabnam Patel and continued to wear this crown until 1991 when she relinquished it to Preeti Mankotia. He remained a faculty member at Kirori Mal College, Delhi, and later became the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi (1971–74). Kishan Swaroop Chaudhari was a former judge, Justice of Rajasthan High Court of India, serving the court between 2008 and 2010. Coming from a family of lawyers, both Chaudhari's father and grandfather were also advocates in the Indian legal system. Chaudhari studied at Kishangarh and Ajmer. He was awarded a university medal, gold medal for first standing in Bachelor of Laws, Law. He served the subordinate courts for a period of 37 years before being elevated as a High Court Judge on 15 April 2008. He retired from High Court on 29 June 2010.
