Swaran Lata (singer)
Swaran Lata (born 19 November 1938), or Swaranlata ( pa, ਸਵਰਨ ਲਤਾ) is a former Punjabi singer of Indian Punjab. She is known for her songs like ''Lai De Maye Kaalean Baagan Di Mehndi'', ''Munh Vich Bhabi De, Nand Burkiaan Pave''. She sang almost every Punjabi singer of her time, including Harcharan Garewal, Karamjit Dhuri, Karnail Gill, Muhammad Sadiq, Didar Sandhu, Gurcharan Pohli, Ramesh Rangila, Jagat Singh Jagga, Daleep Singh Deep and Mahendra Kapoor Mahendra Kapoor (9 January 1934 – 27 September 2008) was an Indian playback singer. In a long career spanning decades, his repertoire included popular songs such as ''Chalo ekbaar phir se Ajnabi ban jayen hum dono'' ( Gumrah) and ''Neele Gaga .... Gurcharan Singh Pohli (born June 24, 1942) is an Indian singer and actor who worked in Punjabi cinema, Punjabi and Bollywood, Hindi films. He is best known for his Music of Punjab, Punjabi duets with his wife, singer Promila Pammi. He was very active in the industry from the 1960s to the late 1980s. As an actor, he is most remembered for his role as Ghukkar in the movie ''Balbeero Bhabi'' (1981). Early life & family background Pohli was born in village Chak No. 51, Pakpattan Tehsil of Montgomery District (now in Pakpattan District) of Punjab Province (British India), Punjab in British India. Mahendra Kapoor
Mahendra Kapoor (9 January 1934 – 27 September 2008) was an Indian playback singer. In a long career spanning decades, his repertoire included popular songs such as ''Chalo ekbaar phir se Ajnabi ban jayen hum dono'' ( Gumrah) and ''Neele Gagan ke tale'' (Hamraaz). His name however became most closely associated with patriotic songs including Mere Desh Ki Dharti in Manoj Kumar's film Upkaar. He always considered Mohammad Rafi as his guru and cited many times that he was the best singer to be ever born. In 1972, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India. He lent his voice to actor Manoj Kumar in most of his films and had a lengthy association with director-producer Baldev Raj Chopra. Jagat Singh Jagga (singer)
Jagat Singh Virk( 1901/02–1931/32), better known as Jagga Jatt or Jagga Daku, was a 20th-century heroic rebel of Punjab. He is known as the Robin Hood of Punjab for "robbing from the rich and giving to the poor", as is typically believed about Robin Hood as well. Early life Jagga was born as Jagat Singh Virk in 1901/02 in a Virk Jat family, in Dasuwal, Punjab to father Sardar Makhan Singh Virk and mother Bhagan, in British India. In village Burj Ran Singh, most families were Muslim Telis and only 17 or 18 families were of Sidhu Jats . Jagga had two sisters and he was the only son of Makhan Singh.
