Swanbourne is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority area of Buckinghamshire, England. Commander John Tapling Fremantle, 5th Baron Cottesloe, 6th Baron Fremantle, (22 January 1927 – 21 May 2018) was a British baron in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. Biography Early life John Fremantle was born on 22 January 1927, the son of John Walgrave Halford Fremantle, 4th Baron Cottesloe (1900–1994) and Lady Elizabeth Harris, daughter of James Edward Harris, 5th Earl of Malmesbury and Dorothy Gough-Calthorpe. Stephen Grenville Fremantle (1810-18 April 1860) was a naval officer in the Royal Navy. He was the youngest son of Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Fremantle. His brothers were Thomas, Charles and William. In 1823 he attended the Royal Naval Academy, Portsmouth, and then in 1828 served as midshipman on HMS Challenger followed by . In 1829 was promoted to lieutenant then, in 1836, to commander on HMS ''Clio'', Southampton and HMS ''Wanderer'' at the Cape of Good Hope and on the South America Station and in China respectively. Admiral Sir Charles Howe Fremantle GCB RN (1 June 1800 – 25 May 1869) was a renowned British Royal Navy officer. The city of Fremantle, Western Australia, is named after him. Early life Fremantle was the second son of Thomas Fremantle, an associate of Horatio Nelson, and of Fremantle's wife Elizabeth, the diarist. His middle name, Howe, is derived from his date of birth: the anniversary of Lord Howe's victory over the French on the Glorious First of June, 1794. Career Fremantle joined the Royal Navy in 1812 and worked his way up the ranks on a number of vessels. From 1818 to 1819 he served on his father's flagship in the Mediterranean Fleet.
