Swan Creek is a rural locality in the Southern Downs Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Swan Creek had a population of 161 people. History A creek called ''Swan Creek'' first appears on Buxton's 1864 Darling Downs District Map as part of the Canning Downs pastoral run. By 1883 a smaller pastoral run called ''Swan Creek'' had been split off from Canning Downs. It is presumed that the creek acquired its name from the presence of swans at the creek. Swan Creek Lower State School opened on 20 June 1870. Circa 1887 it was renamed Swan Creek State School. It closed on 12 December 1997. It was at 106 Swan Creek School Road (). On Wednesday 20 August 1873 the Synod of the Anglican Church purchased a site of 3 acres 1 rood (now 435 Stephens Road on the corner of Swan Creek School Road, ) for establishing a church adjacent to the school. Killarney Railway Line
The Killarney railway line was a branch railway in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia. It travelled from Warwick to Killarney and operated from 1884 to 1964. Along with approval for the Fassifern and Crows Nest branches in 1880 came parliamentary approval for this branch. Although the owner of the large Canning Downs station offered land to enable a direct route from Warwick to Killarney, a more circuitous route was chosen to serve surrounding farms. It meant that the branch line ran 44 kilometres east from Warwick and then south to Killarney rather than take a direct 32 kilometre route through Canning Downs. The Southern railway line reached Warwick in 1871. The terminus was then on the northern side of the Condamine River. After construction of a bridge over the river and extension of the line south to Stanthorpe, a stop at East Warwick became Warwick railway station and the old terminus was renamed Mill Hill railway station. Mathew Blagden Hale (18 June 1811 – 3 April 1895), very frequently spelled "Matthew", was the first Anglican Bishop of Perth and then the Anglican Bishop of Brisbane. Hale is recognised for seeking to empower the South Australian Aboriginals through his work in the Poonindie mission, establishing the Anglican Diocese of Perth and Hale School.
