The Swan 44 Mk I was designed by German Frers with styling input by Andrew Winch and built by Nautor's Swan and first launched in 1989. It shared many concepts with the Swan 36 Swan 36 is a fin keeled, fiberglass constructed masthead sloop first manufactured by Nautor's Swan in 1967. The first Swan sailing yacht ever produced by the firm, it was designed to serve recreationally but also compete in the One Ton Cup. ... developed at the same time. Oy Nautor AB is a Finnish producer of luxury sailing yachts, based in Jakobstad. It is known for its ''Nautor's Swan'' range of yachts models. The company was founded in 1966 by Pekka Koskenkylä. The designers Nautor has worked with four naval architects during its history. The original designer Sparkman & Stephens had a long association with Nautor and were responsible for the first 775 yachts sold. These early designs combined a luxurious interior in a fiberglass hull with features that were then current in successful racing boats, such as the separation of the skeg-hung rudder from the keel. They won numerous races including the Cowes Week in 1968, the Bermuda Race in 1972 by Swan 48, followed by even bigger success in 1974, when a ketch rigged Swan 65 by the name '' Sayula II'' won the first ever Whitbread Round the World Race. The Swan 43 is a Finnish sailboat that was designed by Olin Stephens of Sparkman & Stephens as an Royal Ocean Racing Club rule Cruising (maritime), cruiser-Sailing (sport), racer and first built in 1967. The boat is Sparkman & Stephens' design #1973. The design was originally marketed by the manufacturer as the Swan 43, but is now usually referred to as the Swan 43 S&S to differentiate it from the unrelated 1985 Swan 43 Holland design. Swan 36 is a fin keeled, fiberglass constructed masthead sloop first manufactured by Nautor's Swan in 1967. The first Swan sailing yacht ever produced by the firm, it was designed to serve recreationally but also compete in the One Ton Cup. Production continued until 1971, with a total of 90 Swan 36 boats being built. The 36 was designed by Sparkman & Stephens who were the number one designers in the world at the time and also the designers of the first 775 Swan yachts built by Nautor.
