Swallow (British Band)
Swallow were a British-based duo of Mike Mason and Louise Trehy.Strong, Martin C. They moved on to Rough Trade Records for a further EP before disbanding. History Mike Mason had previously played as a live keyboard player for Into Paradise, while Louise Trehy had founded record label Setanta with Keith Cullen. Camberwell () is a district of South London, England, in the London Borough of Southwark, southeast of Charing Cross. Camberwell was first a village associated with the church of St Giles' Church, Camberwell, St Giles and a Common land, common of which Goose Green is a remnant. Spiritualized (stylised as Spiritualized®) are an English rock band formed in 1990 in Rugby, Warwickshire, by Jason Pierce (often known as J. Spaceman), formerly of Spacemen 3. After several line up-changes, in 1999, the band centered on Pierce (vocals, guitar), Doggen Foster (guitar) and Kevin Bales (drums and percussion) with revolving bassists and keyboard players. 4AD is a British record label owned by Beggars Group. It was founded in London under the name "Axis" (after the Hendrix album) by Ivo Watts-Russell and Peter Kent in 1980 as an imprint of Beggars Banquet Records. The name was changed to 4AD after the release of the label's first four singles. Later that year, Watts-Russell and Kent purchased the label from Beggars Banquet to become an independent record label, and Kent sold his share to Watts-Russell a year later. Andonis Michaelides (Greek: Αντώνης Μιχαηλίδης; 24 July 1958 – 4 January 2011), better known as Mick Karn, was an English-Cypriot musician and songwriter who rose to fame as the bassist for the art rock/ new wave band Japan. His distinctive fretless bass guitar sound and melodic playing style were a trademark of the band's sound. Early life Karn was born Andonis Michaelides in Nicosia on 24 July 1958. When he was three, his Greek-Cypriot parents moved with him to London, where he was raised. Dali's Car was a musical group formed in 1984 by Peter Murphy (vocalist), Mick Karn (bassist, keyboardist, guitarist, saxophonist) and Paul Vincent Lawford (rhythm construction). History One year after Bauhaus broke up, Murphy, after taking a hiatus from his music career, wanted to record music again. However, he had difficulties creating music at the time since his bandmates from Bauhaus had come up with the musical ideas and used them in their work. Murphy's input was limited to writing and interpreting lyrics, creating vocal rhythms, adding vocal parts into songs. Bauhaus are an English rock band formed in Northampton in 1978. Known for their dark image and gloomy sound, Bauhaus are best known as one of the pioneers of gothic rock, although they mixed many genres, including dub, glam rock, psychedelia, and funk. Peter John Joseph Murphy (born 11 July 1957) is an English singer, songwriter, and musician. He is the vocalist for the post-punk goth rock band Bauhaus. After Bauhaus initially disbanded, Murphy formed Dali's Car with Japan's bassist Mick Karn and released one album, '' The Waking Hour'' (1984). He later went on to release a number of solo albums, including '' Should the World Fail to Fall Apart'' (1986) and ''Love Hysteria'' (1988). Lettie is a British London-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Biography Lettie grew up in Suffolk, England. She is a former Medieval History student and avid collector of postcards and ephemera. She has, as a result of her love of films, been recording videos for most of her songs since 2008. They often depict things that are fleeting and past such as the last day of Streatham Ice Arena on 17 December 2011, or an installation by Tomás Saraceno the Hayward Psycho Buildings exhibition (2008) or a day in her life. Lettie met producer/writer David Baron in 2006 and has made three records with him, ''Age of Solo'' and ''Everyman'' (2008) and ''Good Fortune, Bad Weather'' (May 2012). Martin James "Boz" Boorer (born 19 May 1962 in Edgware, Middlesex, England) is an English guitarist and producer most known for his work founding the new wave rockabilly group the Polecats; and later for his work as a co-writer, guitarist and musical director with Morrissey, for which he is principally known today. Marijne Van Der Vlugt Marijne van der Vlugt (born 6 October 1965 in De Meije) is a Dutch musician, former model and MTV Europe VJ. She is the daughter of Dutch actor Bram van der Vlugt. Marijne started her career as a VJ for MTV Europe Central from London in the early 1990s and hosted such shows as Alternative Nation (every Wednesday from 23:00), and the fashion show ''The Pulse with Swatch''.
