Svetoslav Barkanichkov
Svetoslav Barkanichkov ( bg, Светослав Бърканичков; born 1 March 1974) is a Bulgarian footballer. Club career Born in Pleven, Barkanichkov has been a squad member of numerous clubs in the top division of Bulgarian football, most notably becoming champion of Bulgaria twice - in 2001 (with Levski Sofia) and in 2004 (with Loko Plovdiv). In the mid to late 2000s, he also donned the shirt of teams from Poland. International career In 2001, after having impressed Uzbek scouts during an Albena Cup match between Levski Sofia and Uzbekistan, Barkanichkov received a lucrative financial offer to represent the Central Asian country's national team, but refused it, as he was at the time on then manager of Bulgaria Stoycho Mladenov's radar. Eventually he never got to play international football, as he was plagued by injury problems during the year 2001. Pleven ( bg, Плèвен ) is the seventh most populous city in Bulgaria. Located in the northern part of the country, it is the administrative centre of Pleven Province, as well as of the subordinate Pleven municipality. FC Giant Belene is a Bulgarian football club from the town of Belene. History It was founded in 1947 Since then, the Gigant playing with variable success in B PFG. Stoycho Dimitrov Mladenov ( bg, Стойчо Димитpoв Младенов; born 12 April 1957 in Ploski, Blagoevgrad Province) is a Bulgarian former football player and manager. Career Mladenov started from small teams like Dimitrovgrad and gradually moved to bigger teams like CSKA Sofia. From there he went all around the world, however his best moments of winning were in Portugal and also with his National Team. His best years were spent as a striker for CSKA Sofia. He also served the club as a manager and head coach. Mladenov's nickname is "Liverpool's Executioner" in honor of his winning goals against the European champion Liverpool F.C. in UEFA European Champions Cup 1/4 finals in season 81/82.
