Svetlana Shimkova
Svetlana Shimkova (born 18 September 1983) is a Russian Powerlifting, weightlifter. At the 2005 World Weightlifting Championships she won the silver medal in the 63 kg category, with a world record clean and jerk of 139 kg, which was surpassed in the same contest by Pawina Thongsuk with 140 kg. She won gold in the 63 kg category at the 2005 European Weightlifting Championships, 2005, and again at the 2006 European Weightlifting Championships, in 2006 with another world record clean and jerk of 141 kg. Shimkova participated in the women's -63 kg class at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships and won the silver medal, finishing behind Quyang Xiaofang. Powerlifting
Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. As in the sport of Olympic weightlifting, it involves the athlete attempting a maximal weight single-lift effort of a barbell loaded with weight plates. Powerlifting evolved from a sport known as "odd lifts", which followed the same three-attempt format but used a wider variety of events, akin to strongman competition. Eventually odd lifts became standardized to the current three. In competition, lifts may be performed equipped or un-equipped (typically referred to as 'classic' or 'raw' lifting in the IPF specifically). Snatch (weightlifting)
The snatch is the first of two lifts contested in the sport of weightlifting (also known as Olympic weightlifting) followed by the clean and jerk. The objective of the snatch is to lift the barbell from the ground to overhead in one continuous motion. There are four main styles of snatch used: snatch (or full snatch), split snatch, power snatch, and muscle snatch. The full lift is the most common style used in competition, while power snatches and muscle snatches are mostly used for training purposes, and split snatches are rarely used. Any of these lifts can be performed from the floor, from the hang position, or from blocks. In competition, only lifts from the floor are allowed. Female (symbol: ♀) is the sex of an organism that produces the large non-motile ova (egg cells), the type of gamete (sex cell) that fuses with the male gamete during sexual reproduction. Quyang Xiaofang
Ouyang Xiaofang (; born 5 April 1983) is a weightlifter from Liaoning, People's Republic of China. Ouyang participated in the women's -63 kg class at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships and won the gold medal, snatching 110 kg and clean and jerking an additional 136 kg for a total of 246 kg. At the 2006 Asian Games, she suffered a knee injury, but won the silver medal in the 63 kg category.
