Sverresborg IF
Sverresborg Idrettsforening is a Norwegian sports club from Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag. It has sections for association football, team handball and basketball ("Sverresborg Hoops"). It was founded on 30 October 1931, named after the fortress Sverresborg. The women's handball team was a club flagship, winning one league title and three cup titles between 1981 and 1986. The men's football team plays in the Third Division, the fourth tier of Norwegian football after being promoted in 2012. Trondheim ( , , ; sma, Tråante), historically Kaupangen, Nidaros and Trondhjem (), is a city and municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. Sør-Trøndelag
Sør-Trøndelag () was a county comprising the southern portion of the present-day Trøndelag county in Norway. It bordered the old Nord-Trøndelag county as well as the counties of Møre og Romsdal, Oppland, and Hedmark. To the west is the Norwegian Sea (Atlantic Ocean), and to the east is Jämtland in Sweden. Sverresborg (Norwegian:''Sverresborg i Trondheim'') or ''Sverre Sigurdsson's castle'' (''Kong Sverres borg'') was a fort and residence built in the medieval city of Nidaros (later Trondheim) by King Sverre Sigurdsson. The fortification was built in support of Sverre Sigurdsson's struggle against his rival King Magnus Erlingsson to claim the throne of Norway.
