Sverre Bergh (composer)
Sverre Bergh (1 November 1920 – 30 April 2006) was a Norwegian engineer who served as a spy in Nazi Germany during World War II. Biography Sverre Bergh was born in Asker outside Oslo, Norway. He was the eldest of three sons born to Erik and Anna Bergh. He had spent time in New York City where his father worked as a municipal engineer. In 1940, he went to Dresden, Germany to study at Dresden Technische Hochschule. Before leaving, he was recruited by the Norwegian intelligence group XU. His role was to investigate information given to him by Paul Rosbaud and report this back to XU and the British Secret Intelligence Service, while living under the cover of being a student. As a student in Dresden, Bergh could travel relatively freely in Nazi Germany and gather intelligence material. Asker
Asker ( no, Asker), properly called Askerbygda in Norwegian, is a district and former Municipalities of Norway, municipality in Akershus, Norway. From 2020 it is part of the larger administrative municipality Asker, Viken (also known as Greater Asker) in Viken (county), Viken county, together with the traditional Buskerud districts Røyken and Hurum; Asker proper constitutes the northern fourth and is part of the Greater Oslo Region. The administrative centre was the town of Asker, which remains so for the new larger municipality. Eric Welsh
Eric Welsh (born 1897) was a British chemist and naval intelligence officer during the Second World War. Between 1919 and 1940 he worked for the Bergen branch of the company International Paint Ltd. From 1941 he headed the Norwegian branch of Secret Intelligence Service (SIS). Welsh is fleetingly referred to in the Norwegian television series The Heavy Water War and, based on the comments by Stephen Dorril of Welsh as a "...ladies' man who drank and smoked to excess" and a "master of dirty tricks" alluded to as one of the models to James Bond SIS operated more than one hundred intelligence operations in Norway during World War II, with about 200 agents shipped from Britain to Norway.
