Sverigedemokraterna
The Sweden Democrats ( sv , Sverigedemokraterna ; SD ) is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Sweden. As of 2022, it is the largest member of Sweden's right-wing governing bloc to which it provides confidence and supply, and is the second largest party in the Riksdag. The party describes itself as social conservative with a nationalist foundation. The party has also been variously characterised by academics, political commentators, and media as national-conservative, anti-immigration, anti-Islam, Eurosceptic, and far-right. The Sweden Democrats reject the far-right label, saying that it no longer represents the party's political beliefs. Jimmie Åkesson
Per Jimmie Åkesson (; born 17 May 1979) is a Swedish politician and author, serving as leader of the Sweden Democrats since 2005. He has been a member of the Riksdag (SD) for Jönköping County since 2010. He previously served as leader of the Sweden Democratic Youth from 2000 until 2005. Early life Jimmie Åkesson was born in Ivetofta in Skåne County, but grew up in Sölvesborg in Blekinge County. His father Stefan is a businessman who ran a floor laying business and his mother Britt Marie was a care provider in a nursing home. Åkesson's parents divorced when he was young and he was raised primarily by his mother. Young Swedes SDU
Young Swedes, ( sv , Ungsvenskarna ), have been the youth section within the Sweden Democrats since 1 October 2015. National spokesperson since October 2022 is Emil Eneblad. According to Jimmie Åkesson, the party leader of the Sweden Democrats, the sections main goal is to "attract young people to vote for the party". The section itself says that its main task is to "prepare young people to become future Sweden Democratic politicians." They uses the Engelbrektsbågen as a symbol and describes itself as democratic and socially conservative with a nationalist outlook. Unlike the former youth section Sweden Democratic Youth, the Young Swedes demands that its members are also members of the Sweden Democrats. The minimum age for membership in the section is 13 years. Nyheter Idag (News Today) is a Swedish-language online newspaper. The magazine was founded in February 2014 by Chang Frick and Jakob Bergman, and they say their news reports focus on "politics, gossip, social media and foreign news". The publication describes itself as based on libertarian principles, and the employees have a background in different organizations. Expo grouped ''Nyheter Idag'' with "right-wing populist and far-right alternative media", but also stated that it was the news site most difficult to fit into that mold. ''Richard'' Johannes Jomshof, né ''Lohikoski'', (born 6 July 1969 in Helsingborg) is a Swedish politician affiliated with the Sweden Democrats (SD) party and former pop musician. He serves as party secretary of the Sweden Democrats and has been a Member of the Riksdag since September 2010 and in 2022 was appointed as chairman of the Justice Committee in the Riksdag. Biography Jomshof was born in 1969 in Helsingborg to a Swedish mother and a Finnish father. He studied history and social studies at Malmö University before attending the university's affiliated teacher training college. As a teacher, Jomshof was dismissed from two jobs for being part of Sweden Democrats. Sweden Democrat Youth ( sv, Sverigedemokratisk Ungdom ; SDU) was the youth league of the Swedish political party Sweden Democrats until 12 September 2015. Background The youth league was founded in 1993 as an independent youth league to its parent party. The original name was (Sweden Democratic Youth Association), but the organization was soon renamed . The youth league was disbanded in 1995 due to rampant problems with neo-Nazism in the ranks, but was reestablished as an independent organization in 1998 before becoming directly associated to the Sweden Democrats. Henrik Olof Vinge (born 10 August 1988) is a Swedish politician of the Sweden Democrats. He has served as Leader of the Sweden Democrats in the Riksdag and as first deputy leader of his party since November 2019. Vinge has a law degree from Stockholm University. He has previously worked as a prison guard at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, as a recruitment consultant and a legal advisor for the non-profit online service Lawline.
