Sven Ginman
Sven Ginman (born 11 July 1948) is a former Swedish tennis player. Career Ginman, with partner John Bartlett, was the boys' doubles champion at the 1967 Australian Open. He also played in the men's singles draw at the 1967 Australian Open and lost in five sets in the first round to the fifteenth seed, Will Coghlan. Ginman, though a junior, participated in the qualifying draw for the men's singles at Wimbledon in 1966 and 1967, losing the first round of the qualifying on both occasions. He attended college in the United States at the University of Miami, where he was a member of the university's tennis team from 1967 to 1970. Ginman twice participated at the Grand Prix tournament in St. Petersburg, United States, where in 1968 he lost in the second round to Mike Belkin and in 1970 he lost in the second round, to Tom Edlefsen Thomas B. Tom Edlefsen
Thomas B. Edlefsen (born December 12, 1941) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Career Edlefsen was a member of three NCAA Championship winning teams while at the University of Southern California, in 1963, 1964 and 1966. He was a three time All-American. He won the U.S. National Hardcourt doubles titles in 1963 and 1965. At the U.S. National Indoors in 1964, Edlefsen had wins over both Arthur Ashe and Roy Emerson. In 1967, he developed a nerve disease, Guillain–Barré syndrome, after suffering a reaction to a smallpox vaccination he had while with the Air Force Reserves. He was left with total paralysis. Mike Belkin
Michael I. Belkin (born June 29, 1945) is a former top-ranked Canadian tennis player. Canada's top-ranked player five times between 1966 and 1972, Belkin had a career 17–12 Davis Cup record, including a 14–7 record in singles. The right-handed Belkin attained a career-high singles ranking of no. 7 world amateur during the early 1960s. He joined the fledgling professional tour in the later half of his playing career, compiling a 36–36 career singles win–loss record. He reached the quarter-finals at the 1968 Australian Championships, which he lost to top seed William Bowrey. The field was especially weak that year as nine of the top amateurs of 1967 had turned pro. He also reached the third round in singles in his inaugural Wimbledon. Värmdö Municipality
Värmdö Municipality (''Värmdö kommun'') is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden. Its seat is in the town of Gustavsberg, with a population of 9,682 (2005), on the main island at an elevation of . The municipality is named after the main island Värmdön, in size. The municipality in its present form was created in 1974, when "old" Värmdö was amalgamated with Gustavsberg (which had been detached from it in 1902) and Djurö. The Grand Prix tennis circuit was a professional tennis tour for male players that existed from 1970 to 1989. The Grand Prix and World Championship Tennis (WCT) were the two predecessors to the current tour for male players, the ATP Tour, with the Grand Prix being more prominent. Background Before the Open Era, popular professional tennis players, such as Suzanne Lenglen and Vincent Richards, were contracted to professional promoters. Amateur players were under the jurisdiction of their national (and international) federations. Later professional promoters, such as Bill Tilden and Jack Kramer, often convinced leading amateurs like Pancho Gonzales and Rod Laver to join their tours with promises of good prize money.
