Svein Folkvord (born 18 May 1967) is a Norwegian Jazz musician ( double bass), sound engineer and composer, known from cooperations with Andy Sheppard, Paolo Fresu, Knut Kristiansen, John Pål Inderberg, Per Jørgensen, Phil McDermott, Jack Wilkins, Håkon Mjaset Johansen, Nils-Olav Johansen and Sverre Gjørvad. (in Norwegian) Career Folkvord is educated on the Jazz program at Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet and holds a Master in music and MSc. in acoustics (1987 - 1992). In Trondheim he played with «Kjellerbandet», Trøndelag Teater, and Sverre Gjørvad and Nils-Olav Johansen in the band «Storytellers» releasing the album ''Enjoy Storytellers!'' (1994). John Pål Inderberg
John Pål Inderberg (born 6 August 1950 Steinkjer, Norway) is a versatile saxophonist and one of the leading traditional musicians in Norway. His playing synthethises many different styles, not least when in partnership with Norwegian and American jazz musicians - players as contrasting as Gil Evans and Lee Konitz. Career As an earlier member of the new cool quartet, Inderberg gave new popularity to the collective art of improvisation in the 1950s. Inderberg's soprano and baritone sax can be heard on a wide range of recordings. He has toured and recorded with Lee Konitz Store Norske Leksikon and Warne Marsh (saxophone), Chet Baker (trumpet), Bob Brookmeyer (trombone), as well as Siri Gellein and Henning Sommerro. MaiJazz
MaiJazz is the Stavanger International Jazz Festival in Stavanger, Norway. Since the first MaiJazz in 1989, the festival has presented both international and national musicians. About 200 volunteers organize 40 concerts on 20 venues in and around Stavanger for the 80 to 1800 people visiting MaiJazz. Håkon Mjåset Johansen
Håkon Mjåset Johansen (born 1 August 1975 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz drummer and composer, known from playing with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra featuring Chick Corea at Moldejazz 2000, cooperations with Bugge Wesseltoft's New Conceptions of Jazz, Ole Morten Vågan's Motif, Siri Gjære's Cricket Club and the Ola Kvernberg Trio. He has also contributed to releases with Jon Larsen, the Atle Nymo/Frode Nymo Quartet and Jan Garbarek. Jack Rivers Lewis (born June 4, 1944), known professionally as Jack Wilkins, is a jazz guitarist. Career A native of New York City, Wilkins grew up listening to his parents' music, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Billie Holiday. He started playing guitar when he was thirteen. He had an older cousin who played albums for him by Charlie Christian, Tal Farlow, Django Reinhardt, and Johnny Smith. Andy Sheppard
Andy Sheppard (born 20 January 1957) is a British jazz saxophonist and composer. He has been awarded several prizes at the British Jazz Awards, and has worked with some notable figures in contemporary jazz, including Gil Evans, Carla Bley, George Russell and Steve Swallow. In 2019 he was presented the degree of Doctor of Music ''honoris causa'' by the University of Bristol. Biography Sheppard was born in Warminster, Wiltshire, England, in 1957. At the age of 19 he emerged as a musician in the Salisbury-based contemporary quartet Sphere in the late 1970s, gigging only three weeks after picking up the saxophone.
