Svea Life Guards
The Svea Life Guards ( sv, Svea livgarde), also I 1, was a Swedish Army infantry regiment that was active in various forms 1521–2000. The unit was based in the Stockholm Garrison in Stockholm and belonged to the King's Life and Household Troops (''Kungl. Maj:ts Liv- och Hustrupper'') until 1974. History 1500s–1900s Svea Life Guards, the Swedish Army's first guard infantry regiment, originated from the Trabant Corps that surrounded the first Vasa Kings and is said to have been formed in 1526. Svea Logistic Corps
The Svea Logistic Corps ( sv, Svea trängkår, T 1) was a Swedish Army logistic unit operating between 1891 and 1997. The unit was based in Linköping. History The unit has its origins in the Logistic Battalion (''Trängbataljonen'') which was divided in 1891 into two battalions, Svea Logistic Battalion (T 1) and Göta Logistic Battalion (T 2). Svea Logistic Battalion took over the camp that the Logistic Battalion had had at the Higher Artillery School's (''Högre artilleriläroverket'') previous premises in Marieberg in Stockholm. In 1893, the battalion raised the Norrland Logistic Battalion (T 3), which was relocated to Fredrikshov Castle in Östermalm, Stockholm before the battalion was relocated to Sollefteå in 1898. The Svea 123 is a small liquid-fuel (naphtha, commonly referred to as ''white gas'' or ''Coleman fuel'') pressurized-burner camping stove that traces its origins to designs first pioneered in the late 19th century. Although it was originally made in Sweden it is now built in Taiwan by Optimus. History Svea stoves were first made by C.R. Nybergs Lödlampfabrik, which also manufactured blowtorches as well as other machinery and equipment. Founded by Carl Nyberg, the firm later became one of the largest industries in Sundbyberg, Sweden. Svea Artillery Regiment
The Svea Artillery Regiment ( sv, Svea artilleriregemente), designation A 1, was a Swedish Army artillery regiment that traced its origins back to the 17th century. It was disbanded in 1997. The regiment's soldiers were originally recruited from Svealand, and it was also garrisoned there. History The regiment has its origins in the Artillery Regiment raised in 1636. That regiment was split into four new regiments in 1794 of which Svea Artillery Regiment was one. The regiment was given the designation A 1 (1st Artillery Regiment) in 1830. In 1889 three companies garrisoned in Vaxholm became independent and formed Vaxholm Artillery Corps. In 1893 another four companies were split off to form Norrland Artillery Regiment and 2nd Svea Artillery Regiment. Due to this the regiment also changed name to 1st Svea Artillery Regiment. The Svea Engineer Corps ( sv, Svea ingenjörkår), designation Ing 1, was a Swedish Army engineer unit that traced its origins back to the 19th century. It was disbanded in 1997. The unit was garrisoned in Uppland and Södermanland. History The unit has its origins in Sapper Company raised in 1855. The company was reorganised to a battalion-sized unit in 1864 and was renamed Sapper Corps. This unit was transformed to a pontoon bridge battalion, Pontoon Battalion, in 1867. The battalion then changed its name once again in 1893 to Svea Engineer Battalion, and in 1902 to Svea Engineer Corps, when it gained the designation Ing 1 (1st Engineer Regiment). Stockholms Rederi AB Svea (originally Sveabolaget, later often referred to as Rederi AB Svea or simply Svea) was a Swedish shipping company founded in the 1870s. It operated a wide variety of ships carrying freight and passengers around the world, mostly concentrating on traffic in the Baltic and North Sea and was one of the largest Swedish shipping companies in its time. Rederi AB Svea was one of the founding members of Silja Line, and operated its ships under the names Skandinavisk Linjetrafik, Scandinavian Ferry Lines, Linjebuss and Trave Line. Svea Airport ( no, Svea flyplass; ) is a private airport located in and serving the Sveagruva (also known as Svea) in Svalbard, Norway. The airport is owned and operated by Store Norske Spitsbergen Kulkompani, who use the airport to transport their coal mining workers from the company town to Longyearbyen and Svalbard Airport, Longyear. The airport features a gravel runway measuring . Flights are operated about thirty times per week by Lufttransport using their two Dornier 228s. History The need for an airport at Svea arose during the mid 1990s. Store Norske, which had until then been mining coal in Longyearbyen, was in the process of moving the bulk of its mining operations to Svea. Sveagruva
Sveagruva (), or simply Svea, was a mining settlement in the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, lying at the head of Van Mijenfjord. It was the third largest settlement in the archipelago (after Longyearbyen and Barentsburg). Around 300 workers living in Longyearbyen commuted to Sveagruva for work on a daily or weekly basis. The mine was operated by Store Norske Spitsbergen Kulkompani. There is no road to Longyearbyen or any other settlements, so travel is done by air from Svea Airport and coal transport by ship from a port southwest. Sveagruva closed in 2017 and currently has no permanent inhabitants. History The town was established in 1917 by Swedes. Svea is an unincorporated community, in Whitefield Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, United States. The town does not appear on the U.S. Census Bureau website, but the population is roughly 100.
