Suzanne Virdee
Suzanne Nicole Virdee (born 16 October 1969 in Solihull, Warwickshire, now the West Midlands) is a British journalist and television presenter, working on a freelance basis with UK news organisation ITN. Career Virdee became a journalist at the age of 18, working as a trainee reporter at the '' Solihull Times'' in her home town. She passed her journalism exams and switched to television journalism, working for '' Central News'' in Birmingham. Virdee went on to work for the ''Sunday Mercury'' and the ''Birmingham Mail'' (then the ''Birmingham Evening Mail'') before a 16-month stint with BBC WM. She returned to ''Central News'' as a reporter, presenter and producer before joining the BBC's ''Midlands Today'' programme in April 2001, presenting late night bulletins before becoming a main presenter a year later, alongside Nick Owen. Solihull
Solihull (, or ) is a market town and the administrative centre of the wider Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in West Midlands County, England. The town had a population of 126,577 at the 2021 Census. Solihull is situated on the River Blythe in the Forest of Arden area. Solihull's wider borough had a population of 216,240 at the 2021 Census. ''Midlands Today'' is the BBC's regional television news service for the West Midlands. It was launched in 1964 and is presented by Mary Rhodes, Nick Owen, Elizabeth Glinka, Rebecca Wood and Shefali Oza. Overview ''Midlands Today'' is produced by BBC Midlands and broadcasts on BBC One seven days a week. The programme is produced and broadcast from the BBC studios in The Mailbox, Birmingham. Journalists are also based at newsrooms in Coventry, Shrewsbury, Stoke-on-Trent and Worcester. ''5 News at 5'', also known as ''Channel 5 News'', is the news programme of British broadcaster Channel 5, produced by ITN from its main newsroom on Gray's Inn Road, London. History ''5 News'' was one of the new station's flagship programmes when it launched on 30 March 1997. One of the launch newsreaders was Rob Butler, who became MP for Aylesbury in 2019. It was originally produced by ITN, which at the time also provided the news for Channel 4 and ITV. Nick Owen
Nicholas Corbishley Owen is an English television presenter and newsreader, best known for presenting the breakfast television programme ''TV-am'' and the BBC's local news show ''Midlands Today'' since 1997. He was also the chairman of Luton Town Football Club between 2008 and 2017. Early life and education Owen was born in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, to father Bertie, a headmaster and Dunkirk veteran, and mother Esme (''née'' Burton), a music teacher. He was educated at Kingsland Grange Prep School, then Shrewsbury School between the ages of 13 and 18.
