Suzanne LaFrance
Suzanne LaFrance (born 1968) is an American politician from the U.S. state, state of Alaska. She is the mayor of Anchorage, having unseated incumbent mayor Dave Bronson in the 2024 Anchorage mayoral election, 2024 election. LaFrance served on the Anchorage Assembly from 2017 to 2023. She ran for the Alaska House of Representatives against James D. Kaufman for the 28th district in 2020, but lost. In 2024, LaFrance ran for mayor of Anchorage against Dave Bronson, the incumbent mayor. LaFrance defeated Bronson. She was sworn into office on July 1. Dave Bronson
David Bronson (born June 26, 1958) is an American politician, pilot, and retired military officer who is the 9th and current mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage, Alaska. Early life and education Bronson was born in Superior, Wisconsin. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Career Bronson served as a pilot in the United States Air Force from 1981 to 1990, as an Air Force Reserve Command plans officer from 1992 to 1993, and an Alaska Air National Guard maintenance officer and pilot from 1993 to 2005, retiring with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He has also worked as a commercial pilot since 1990. In January 2021, Bronson declared his candidacy for mayor in the 2021 Anchorage mayoral election. In the general election, Bronson placed first in a field of 15 candidates. Bronson then narrowly defeated Forrest Dunbar in a May 2021 runoff election. 2024 Anchorage Mayoral Election
The 2024 Anchorage mayoral election was held on April 2, 2024, with a runoff election on May 14 because no candidate received more than 45% of the vote in the first round. It elected the mayor of Anchorage, mayor of Anchorage, Alaska. Incumbent Alaska Republican Party, Republican mayor Dave Bronson ran for re-election to a second term in office.
