Suva Football Club is a Fijian football club that competes in the Fiji Premier League, the top flight of professional Fijian football. The club is based in Suva. Their home stadium is ANZ National Stadium. History Early years Football started to be played in Fiji with the arrival of Europeans. The Suva Football Club was formed in 1905, made up of European employees of the Government and businesses. In 1910, a team from Suva played a match against a team from Nausori. Crew of visiting naval ships also entertained themselves with friendly games of football with local teams. In 1910 a team from Suva played a game against a team from ''HMS Powerful'' and won 3 goals to 1. In 1914, a team from Suva played against a team from ''HMS Torch'', at Albert Park, and won by 2 goals to 0. National Stadium (Suva)
The HFC Bank Stadium ( formally known as ANZ Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Suva, Fiji. HFC Stadium is used primarily for rugby league, rugby union and football matches, and features a track as well as a pitch suitable for worldwide competition. It has undercover seating for 4,000 spectators, and concrete and grass embankments that increase the capacity to 15,000 people. Construction and renovations Originally called Buckhurst Park, the stadium was constructed in 1951 on sixteen hectares of land given by William H. B. Buckhurst in 1948. The stadium was first renovated in 1978–1979 for the Sixth South Pacific Games. Work commenced in April 1978 with the demolition of the grandstand, which had lost its roof during Hurricane Bebe. The stadium was renamed National Stadium upon reopening in 1979. A second renovation took place in 2012, sponsored by ANZ Fiji, Fiji's largest bank, at a cost of FJD $17.5 million. Azariah Soromon
Azariah Soromon (born 1 March 1999) is a Ni-Vanuatu footballer who plays as a forward for Fijian club Suva F.C and the Vanuatu national team. Club career Soromon started his career in the national Teouma Academy. In 2015 he joined his hometown club Tupuji Imere. In January 2018 he moved to Nalkutan to play for them in the 2018 OFC Champions League. In September 2018, Soromon joined New Zealand Football Championship side Southern United FC. He made his league debut for the club on 26 January 2019 in a 0-0 draw with Team Wellington, coming on as an 89th minute substitute for Abdulla Al-Kasily. In 2021 he played for Suva. National team In 2017 Soromon was called up for the Vanuatu national football team. He made his debut on 23 November 2017, in a 1–0 loss against Estonia.
