Bertha Sophie Felicitas Freifrau von Suttner (; ; 9 June 184321 June 1914) was an Austrian-Bohemian pacifist and novelist. In 1905, she became the second female Nobel laureate (after Marie Curie in 1903), the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, and the first Austrian laureate. Early life Bertha Kinský was born on 9 June 1843 at Kinský Palace in the Obecní dvůr (cz) district of Prague. Kurt Suttner
Kurt Suttner (born 8 August 1936 in Regensburg) is a German music teacher and choir director. He is the founder of the Via Nova Choir, with which he was awarded at numerous international competitions. Career Born in Regensburg, Suttner studied music and voice at the Hochschule für Musik München. While still a student, he was a co-founder of Konrad Ruhland's Capella antiqua. Following his training, he initially worked as a music teacher at various schools in Munich. Later he became a music teacher at the German School in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa and worked as a music consultant at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Madagascar. After his return to Germany he became a lecturer for choral conducting at the Hochschule für Musik München, from 1967 to 1968 and again from 1972 to 1974. Markus Suttner (born 16 April 1987) is an Austrian professional footballer who plays as a left-back for SK Wullersdorf. Club career Austria Wien Suttner came through the youth system at Austria Wien before making his breakthrough season at the Viennan club in his first professional season, in the 2008–09 season where he made 22 league appearances. He also made two appearances in the Austrian Cup in which they won. He made five appearances in the Europa League in 2009 where Wien qualified through the third round and the play off round but finished bottom of the group finishing with two points. Raymond Suttner (born ) is South African activist, academic, journalist and public figure. Education and activism Suttner was born in Durban, South Africa. He obtained BA and LLB degrees from the University of Cape Town and an inter-disciplinary doctorate (history, sociology and political studies) from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. During the struggle against apartheid Suttner was in the leadership of the African National Congress (ANC), South African Communist Party and the United Democratic Front. He served two prison terms under apartheid. He was sentenced to seven and a half years in 1975 for "taking part in the activities of an unlawful organisation" by distributing ANC literature, and "undergoing training or inciting or encouraging others to undergo training, or obtaining information which could be of use in furthering the achievements of any of the objects of communism or any unlawful organisation".
