Susur Lee
Susur Lee (; born December 1958) is a Canadian celebrity chef based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Culinary career Susur was born in Hong Kong, the youngest of six children. He served his culinary apprenticeship at Hong Kong's renowned Peninsula Hotel. He immigrated to Canada in 1978 and met and married his first wife, Marilou Covey, the same year. In 1983, Susur and Marilou had decided to move to Hong Kong, but Marilou died as a passenger aboard Korean Air Lines Flight 007 that was destroyed by a Soviet jet fighter. Susur married Brenda Bent in 1991, with whom he has three children: Kai, Levi, and Jet. Susur worked his way to executive chef status at a number of restaurants and eventually became an entrepreneur. His eclectic culinary style is described as fusion cuisine. He is especially well known for "Singapore Slaw", his take on a Lo Hei salad, which is traditionally eaten during the Chinese New Year. British Hong Kong
Hong Kong was a colony and later a dependent territory of the British Empire from 1841 to 1997, apart from a period of occupation under the Japanese Empire from 1941 to 1945 during the Pacific War. Iron Chef America
''Iron Chef America'' is an American cooking show based on Fuji Television's ''Iron Chef'', and is the second American adaptation of the series, following the failed ''Iron Chef USA'' that aired in 2001. The show is produced by Food Network, which also carried a dubbed version of the original ''Iron Chef''. Like the original Japanese program, the program is a culinary game show. In each episode, a new challenger chef competes against one of the resident "Iron Chefs" in a one-hour cooking competition based on a secret ingredient or ingredients, and sometimes theme. The show is presented as a successor to the original ''Iron Chef'', as opposed to being a remake. Top Chef Canada
''Top Chef Canada'' is a Canadian reality competition television series and is considered one of the most prestigious culinary competitions in Canada. The show premiered on April 11, 2011, on Food Network Canada. The first season consisted of 13 episodes, with 16 contestants vying for a grand prize of $100,000 and a GE Monogram kitchen valued at $30,000. Like the original American series, each week the chef contestants compete against each other in culinary challenges. Contestants are judged by a panel of professional chefs and other notables from the food and wine industry, with one or more contestants being eliminated each week. ''Chopped Canada'' is a Canadian reality cooking television series based on the US series ''Chopped''. The program pits four chefs against each other as they compete to win $10,000 and the title of Chopped Canada Champion. It first aired on January 2, 2014 and last aired on February 11, 2017. In May 2017, the show's producers announced that Food Network Canada had cancelled the show. Format In each episode, four chefs go head to head and compete to create a delicious three course meal. The competition is divided into three rounds: "Appetizer", "Entrée", and "Dessert". In each round, the chefs are presented with a mystery basket containing four ingredients, and the challenge is to incorporate those mystery ingredients into an appetizing dish. Iron Chef Canada is a show on Food Network Canada which premiered 10 October 2018. The show is hosted by Gail Simmons, with Chris Nuttall-Smith as the floor reporter, and Jai West as The Chairman. The show is produced by Corus Entertainment and based on the popular ''Iron Chef'' franchise. Besides the secret ingredient that has to be featured in every dish, the Chairman also introduces a "culinary curveball" in the middle of the competition that has to be used in at least one dish. Ten Speed Press is a publishing house founded in Berkeley, California in 1971 by Phil Wood. Ten Speed Press was bought by Random House in February 2009 and is now part of their Crown Publishing Group division. History Wood worked with Barnes & Noble in 1962, Penguin Books in 1965, and had a senior sales position at Penguin Books in Baltimore and New York before founding Ten Speed Press. Wood died of cancer in December 2010. Ten Speed's first book was ''Anybody’s Bike Book'', which is still in print. It inspired the publisher's name and has sold more than a million copies. Jacob Richler
Jacob Richler is a Canadian newspaper and magazine journalist, and the son of novelist Mordecai Richler and Florence Isabel (Wood). He was the inspiration for his father's '' Jacob Two-Two'' trilogy of children's books. He was born in England and raised in Montreal, where he attended Selwyn House School in Westmount. He was married to ''Globe and Mail'' journalist Leanne Delap, from whom he was divorced in 2005.
