Susanne Aartun Sundfør ( (local Haugesund dialect; ʉˈsɑ̀nːə ˈɔ̀ʈːʉːn ˈsʉ̀nføːrin Urban East ("standard") Norwegian); born 19 March 1986) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and record producer. Born and raised in Haugesund, Sundfør started touring in 2005. ''Susanne Sundfør'' (2007), her self-titled debut studio album, reached number three on the Norwegian album chart. It was followed by '' Take One'' in 2008, a live album consisting of songs from her debut. Her second studio album, ''The Brothel'', was released in 2010, peaking at number one in Norway and becoming the best-selling album of that year. The album saw a shift from the piano-driven pop of previous releases towards a more ambitious and electronic direction; its title track reached number two on the Norwegian singles charts, the highest of Sundfør's career. ''Take One'' is a live album by Norwegian singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfør, released on 10 March 2008 through Your Favorite Music. The album consists of new, acoustic recordings of the tracks from Sundfør's self-titled debut album, with only "Morocco" being taken out and replaced with an interlude. The release of the album comes upon the request of many who have wanted to hear the songs as they were originally composed and performed at the beginning of Sundfør's career. Unlike the debut album in which she was supported by her band, Sundfør is the only musician on the album, which consists solely of her voice and piano or guitar. As the album's title suggests, all the songs on ''Take One'' were recorded in a single take in the order of the track listing. The artwork of the album is an illustration based on a photo by Lars K. Contemporary folk music refers to a wide variety of genres that emerged in the mid 20th century and afterwards which were associated with traditional folk music. ''Ten Love Songs'' is the fourth studio album by Norwegian singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfør, released on 16 February 2015 by Warner Music Norway. Sundfør began writing the album in 2012 with the intention of it being about violence, but as she noticed themes of love and relationships coming into place of all the songs she was writing for the album, she titled it ''Ten Love Songs''. The production and style of the record differed from Sundfør's previous albums; she was much more focused on making a pop album with "repetitive" and "direct" musical and lyrical structures than her past works. ''A Night at Salle Pleyel'' is a live instrumental album by Norwegian singer-songwriter Susanne Sundfør, released on 11 November 2011. The album was recorded at Sentrum Scene in Oslo on 18 August 2011, and served as commission piece for the Oslo Jazzfestival's 25th anniversary. It is composed solely of synthesizers with a team of four keyboardists chosen by Sundfør. Background The album was commissioned by the Oslo Jazzfestival, which asked Sundfør to write 44 minutes of music: "I didn't have any other restrictions or guidelines or anything. So I decided to make a piece of music for a string quintet. And then, when I started writing, during the process I got more and more convinced that this would sound really cool with just five synths.
