Susana Rodríguez (artist)
Susana Rodríguez (born 1980) is a Mexican visual artist who has had a number of solo exhibitions and has participated in various group exhibitions. Her work often consists of installations. Biography Susana Rodríguez was born in Guadalajara, México in 1980. She attended the University of Guadalajara, where she studied visual arts. She was a founding member of the ''Colectivo de Acción y Creación Artística'' (Collective of Action and Artistic Creation). In 2006-2007 FONCA (''Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes'' - National Fund for Culture and the Arts) awarded her a grant for young creators. Work In 2008 Rodríguez held a solo exhibition at the Museo Raúl Anguiano in Guadalajara called ''El día de la langosta'' (The day of the locust). The theme of the show was the destructive power of humans, and the way in which a small action such as killing a fly can trigger effects in distant regions. Sam Moyer
Sam Moyer (born 1983, Chicago, Illinois) is an American artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. Her work has been positioned alongside that of artists Mika Tajima, R. H. Quaytman, Cheyney Thompson, and Helen Frankenthaler. Life and work Moyer received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Corcoran College of Art and Design and in 2007 she received her Master of Fine Arts from Yale University. Her first solo gallery exhibition in 2008, at Cleopatra's gallery in Brooklyn, and it included work that incorporated moving blankets stretched like paintings onto stretcher bars—considering them part of an installation rather than individual paintings or works. Following a residency in Switzerland, the artist's interests shifted to focus on the "poetics of the found object" and she began making book sculptures. Mexicali Biennial
The MexiCali Biennial is a contemporary visual arts organization which focuses on the border between California and Mexico as a region of aesthetic production. The organization is migratory in nature and showcases exhibitions on both sides of the border. The MexiCali Biennial was originally started as a project critiquing the proliferation of international and regional art biennials and as a result may be shown at any time and at any location. The inaugural exhibition was in 2006 and subsequent programming occurred in the years spanning 2009 through 2010 and again in 2013. Molly Smith (artist)
Molly Smith is an American theatre director and the artistic director of Arena Stage in Washington, D.C. from 1998 to 2023. During this period, she emphasized promoting new American plays, playwrights, and voices, producing 200 works. In addition, she helped originate 150 works by workshops and commissions at the Arena. She also drove the development and design of a complex called The Mead Center for American Theater, completed in 2010. The project included renovations of the two existing theaters, and construction of a third theater, and related spaces to bring all functions to the site. With this, Arena became the largest regional theater in Washington and second to the Kennedy Center. Dr Liliane Lijn D.Litt. (born 1939) is an American-born artist who was the first woman artist to work with kinetic text (''Poem Machines''), exploring both light and text as early as 1962; and in addition, she is in all likelihood the first woman artist to have exhibited a work incorporating an electric motor.
