Susan Grey, Countess Of Kent
Susan Bertie (born 1554) was the daughter of Catherine Duchess of Suffolk, ''née'' Willoughby, by her second husband, Richard Bertie. Susan was the noblewoman memorialized by Lanyer at the beginning of the ''Salve Deus Rex Judaeorum'' (1611) as the "daughter of the Duchess of Suffolk." At sixteen years of age, she married Reginald Grey of Wrest, who was later restored as the fifth Earl of Kent. Widowed at age nineteen, Susan, now Dowager Countess of Kent, remarried to Sir John Wingfield in 1581 at age twenty-seven. Early life Susan was the first child of her mother's second marriage. Susan Douglas McGreivy (née Gray; October 24, 1939 – November 30, 2019) was an American competition swimmer who represented the United States at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia. She competed in the preliminary heats of the women's 400-meter freestyle, and posted a time of 5:16.7. McGreivy became a lesbian activist and civil rights attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Southern California. Air Marshal Dame Susan Catherine Gray, ( Jessop; born 21 October 1963) is a former senior Royal Air Force officer. Since 2019, she has been Director-General of the Defence Safety Authority. She served as Director of Combat Air at Defence Equipment and Support in the Ministry of Defence (2014–16), and as Air Officer Commanding No. 38 Group (2016–18).
