Susan Easton Black
Susan Easton Black (born Susan Lindsay Ward in 1944) is a retired professor of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. She is also an author of several books related to Joseph Smith and the early history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Career Black holds an Ed.D. from BYU, where she joined the faculty in 1978. Black was the first female full-time professor in BYU’s religion department. Black received the Karl G. Maeser Distinguished Faculty Award in 2000 and was the first woman to receive the award. She also served as an associate dean of General Education and Honors. Her passion for LDS history began as a child hearing stories of the early church from her grandmother, born in Utah in 1872, to British immigrant parents. Women Historians
A woman is an adult female human. Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent). The plural ''women'' is sometimes used in certain phrases such as "women's rights" to denote female humans regardless of age. Typically, women inherit a pair of X chromosomes, one from each parent, and are capable of pregnancy and giving birth from puberty until menopause. More generally, sex differentiation of the female fetus is governed by the lack of a present, or functioning, SRY-gene on either one of the respective sex chromosomes. Historians devoted to the history of the Latter Day Saint movement may be members of a Latter Day Saint faith or non-members with an academic interest. The Doctrine and Covenants (sometimes abbreviated and cited as D&C or D. and C.) is a part of the open scriptural canon of several denominations of the Latter Day Saint movement. Originally published in 1835 as Doctrine and Covenants of the Church of the Latter Day Saints: Carefully Selected from the Revelations of God, editions of the book continue to be printed mainly by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and the Community of Christ (formerly the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints LDS Church. Liz Lemon Swindle
Liz Lemon Swindle (born January 13, 1953) is a painter and artist known for her religious paintings, paintings of Jesus Christ, and works related to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Life and career Swindle studied fine arts at Utah State University. She tutored under wildlife artist Nancy Glazier and worked as a set designer and painter. Her early success was for work as a wildlife artist and were featured in western galleries. She received the Founders Favorites Award from the National Park Foundation and experienced a career turning point as she shifted to portraits.
