Susan Donovan
Susan Donovan is an American author of romance novels and women's fiction. Her novel ''Take a Chance on Me'' won the 2003 Best Contemporary Romance Award Winner from ''Romantic Times''. Two of her novels – ''The Kept Woman'' and ''Not That Kind of Girl'' were selected as RITA Award Finalists by the Romance Writers of America. Before writing her novels, she was a journalist, and studied at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. She lives in New Mexico with her family and labradoodle. ''Romantic Times'' was an American genre magazine specializing in romance novel A romance novel or romantic novel generally refers to a type of genre fiction novel which places its primary focus on the relationship and romantic love between two people, and usually has an "emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending." Pr ...s. It was founded as a newsletter in 1981 by Kathryn Falk. The initial publication took nine months to create and was distributed to 3,000 subscribers. In 2004, the magazine reportedly had 150,000 subscribers, and had built a reputation as "Romance's premiere genre magazine". From 1982 to 2018, the magazine organized the "Romantic Times Booklover's Convention." Several thousand people attended the annual convention, which featured author signings, a costume ball, and a male beauty pageant. Lori Wilde
Laurie Blalock Vanzura(born Texas, United States) is an American author of contemporary romance novels, first under the pseudonym Laura Anthony, and now as Lori Wilde. Biography Laurie Blalock was born in Texas, United States. She wrote her first short story at age eight, and finished her first novel four years later. At sixteen, she submitted a story to Alfred Hitchcock Magazine. Although it was rejected, she received a handwritten note telling her to keep writing. She continued to write, finishing 60 short stories over the next 10 years, persisting even while attending nursing school. All of her short stories were rejected, and a writing teacher finally suggested, in 1990, that she try to write a novel. Wilde took the teacher's advice, and in 1994 sold her second completed work to Silhouette Romance under the pseudonym Laura Anthony. Grace Wilson Melvin (1892/1896 - 1977) was a Scottish-Canadian artist, teacher, and academic professional who was born in Glasgow. According to most sources, Melvin's date of birth was May 28, 1892; however, some sources state the year as 1896. The Scotland's People website confirms 1892 is the date. Melvin has been noted as one of two women who were responsible for bringing modern calligraphy designs to Canada (the other being Esme Davis). She won the Lauder Prize in 1927. Education Melvin began studying art at the Glasgow School of Art in 1907. She took classes in drawing, painting, and design, while also attending life classes.
