Survivor Records
Survivor Records is a British Christian Music record label and is a sub-ministry of Kingsway Communications. The label launched in 1997 as a medium by which to publish music associated with the Soul Survivor (charity), Soul Survivor events. One of the first artists signed was Matt Redman, who had been involved with Soul Survivor for many years. Martyn Layzell
Martyn Layzell (born 1975) is Vicar at St Mark's, Battersea Rise, an Anglican church in London. He is also a worship leader and has regularly led worship at major Christian events including Soul Survivor and New Wine. He features on several live albums from those events both as a singer and a songwriter. He has produced three studio albums, Reward; in collaboration with Tim Hughes, and Lost ''in Wonder'' and ''Turn my Face'', with Lost in Wonder winning Christian Booksellers Convention Worship Album of the Year 2004. Background Martyn grew up in St Andrew's Chorleywood where Mike Pilavachi was his youth leader. After a psychology degree at Birmingham University, he moved to Soul Survivor Watford, where he latterly worked as Worship Pastor. YFriday
YFriday were a British Christian rock and worship band from Newcastle upon Tyne. From their beginning in 1994 until they split in 2010, they gained popularity amongst Christian music fans around the world, particularly in the United Kingdom. In 2010, YFriday announced that they were commencing their final months before disbanding later in the same year, after releasing a number of successful albums. History The group was formed in 1994, originally as the house band for a monthly evangelistic outreach event run by Youth for Christ called WhyFriday?. The WhyFriday? outreach programme initially had a regular attendance of about 50–60 young people, but this steadily grew and the event, later called IXth Hour, was held at the Newcastle City Hall for a number of years. At its peak, IXth Hour had around 800 attendees each month and the band still performed there regularly until their split. Tree63 is a contemporary Christian music band from Durban, South Africa. History The band was formed in 1996 and originally, it was unnamed. In 1997, the band had to come up with a name before performing at North Beach, Durban, and came up with "Tree". Phatfish
Phatfish (1994–2014) were a Christian rock, CCM and worship band. They lived in Brighton, England and spent twenty years writing and performing their own brand of worship-oriented rock, as well as leading worship both in the UK and across the world. They released a number of their own albums and played alongside many well-known worship leaders. They also appeared on many worship albums and on national television programmes such as BBC1's Songs of Praise. Their home church was Church of Christ The King, home of Stuart Townend and other prominent Christian figures. Their worship songs such as "Holy, Holy", "There is a Day" and "Amazing God" are sung in churches globally and have been featured on many albums. Onehundredhours
Onehundredhours (also known among fans as '100h', or 'the hours') were a Christian rock band, headed by Tré Sheppard. History The band initially started by accident an initial one-off gig, when Tré was asked to lead worship at a youth Cell-Church conference in 1997, which resulted in their first tour, of California after they were invited by the conference speakers. Following this, the band released 2 independent records, which sold in excess of 16,000 copies. Onehundredhours were then signed up by the Christian record label Survivor. Since then, another 2 albums have been released, assisting in the growth of the band's popularity, in the UK and also within Europe, where many tours have taken place. Beth Emily Croft (''née'', Coulson; born 13 October 1986) is an English Christian musician, who primarily plays a contemporary Christian style of worship music. She released, '' Rule in My Heart'', with Integrity Music alongside Survivor Records, in 2014. Early life Beth Croft was born on 13 October 1986, as Beth Emily Coulson, in Watford, England, where her parents raised her along with her two younger brothers, Tim and Stephen, in the church. It was not until her mid-teenage years, where her faith would blossom and flourish, when her parents changed churches to Soul Survivor. Croft is now a worship director at Soul Survivor. She went to college at the University of Bath, studying mathematics. Benjamin Lennart Cantelon (born August 5, 1983) is a Canadian Christian musician, who primarily plays a contemporary Christian style of worship music. Tim Hughes
Timothy David Llewelyn Hughes (born 23 July 1977) is a British worship leader, singer, songwriter, and Anglican priest. Formerly the director of worship at Holy Trinity Brompton, a large Anglican church in central London, he has since been ordained as a minister in the Church of England and appointed Vicar of St Luke's, Gas Street Birmingham. He leads Worship Central, an international worship training and resource centre. Hughes has written a number of songs that are sung worldwide, including the Dove Award-winning " Here I Am to Worship", "Happy Day", "Beautiful One", "Jesus Saves", "At Your Name", and "The Way". Personal life Hughes, the son of an Anglican vicar, grew up in High Wycombe, before moving to Birmingham as a teenager when his father was appointed vicar of St John's Church, Harborne. Brenton Gifford Brown Work ID No. 884337863 ISWC No. T9126089325 (born 1 July 1973) is a dual South African and American Christian musician and worship leader. The title track "Everlasting God" on his solo album, ''Everlasting God'' was given an award at the ASCAP awards ceremony in 2008. Brenton Brown co-wrote "Soul on Fire", released by Third Day was nominated for a Grammy award after spending 11 weeks at No. 1 on the Christian Airplay charts.
