Surrey-Panorama is a provincial electoral district in British Columbia, Canada, established by the ''Electoral Districts Act, 2008''. It came into existence following the dissolution of the BC Legislature in April 2009 and was contested for the first time in the 2009 provincial election. Surrey-Panorama Ridge was a provinces and territories of Canada, provincial electoral district (Canada), electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada from 2001 to 2009. Demographics Geography 1999 Redistribution Surrey-Panorama Ridge was created from *the southern half of Surrey-Newton *the western portion of Surrey-Cloverdale Currently, it is on the hills of South Surrey and Newton History When it was first established the Liberals ruled it for three years and then in 2004, the NDP claimed Panorama Ridge. Stephanie Cadieux
Stephanie Cadieux (born 1972 or 1973) is a Canadian politician, who was elected as a BC Liberal Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia in the 2009 provincial election, representing the riding of Surrey-Panorama. After the 2013 provincial election, Cadieux was elected in the riding of Surrey-Cloverdale and in the 2017 provincial election, Cadieux was elected in the riding of Surrey South. British Columbia Electoral Redistribution, 2008
An electoral redistribution was undertaken in 2008 in British Columbia in a process that began in late 2005 and was completed with the passage of the ''Electoral Districts Act, 2008'' on April 10, 2008. The redistribution modified most electoral boundaries in the province and increased the number of MLAs from 79 to 85. The electoral boundaries created by the redistribution were first used in the 2009 provincial election. The provincial government mandated the BC Electoral Boundaries Commission to recommend new maps (for both BC-STV and the traditional " single-member plurality" SMP systems) prior to the second electoral reform referendum. The commission's preliminary report, delivered in August 2007, was received with concern by both the New Democratic Party opposition and the governing Liberal party. The New Democratic Party of British Columbia (BC NDP) is a social-democratic provincial political party in British Columbia, Canada. As of 2017, it governs the province. It is the British Columbia provincial arm of the federal New Democratic Party (NDP). The party previously governed from 1972 to 1975 and from 1991 to 2001. The 2009 British Columbia general election was held on May 12, 2009, to elect members of the Legislative Assembly in the Canadian province of British Columbia. The British Columbia Liberal Party (BC Liberals) formed the government of the province prior to this general election under the leadership of Premier Gordon Campbell. The British Columbia New Democratic Party (BC NDP) under the leadership of Carole James was the Official Opposition.
