Suriani Abdullah
Suriani Abdullah (born Eng Ming Ching; 23 January 1924 – 20 March 2013) was a former central committee member of the Communist Party of Malaya. Background Suriani was born in January 1924 in Sitiawan, Perak. She attended Nan Hwa High School, where she met other communists such as Tu Lung Shan and Chin Peng, and was politically radicalised. In 1940, Suriani joined the underground Communist Party of Malaya and was actively involved in mobilising and organising women workers in the Kinta Valley. She was elected a member of the Central Committee Member in 1975. Sitiawan (alternate spelling: Setiawan; origin: from Malay, a portmanteau of '' Setia Kawan'', meaning "Loyal Friend") is a mukim and town in Manjung District, Perak, Malaysia. Manjung
The Manjung District, formerly Dindings, is a district in the southwestern part of the state of Perak, Malaysia. The district is well known for Pangkor Island, an attraction in Perak and the home of the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM), Lumut Naval Base and dockyard. Dinding was once part of the British Straits Settlements colony. Seri Manjung is the district's principal urban centre while smaller towns include Lumut town, Sitiawan town, Ayer Tawar, Pantai Remis and Beruas. History Prior to 1973 the district was called Dindings. It used to be part of the Straits Settlements then under the administration of Penang.
