Surayya (film)
''Surayya'' is a Pakistani melodrama film directed by Shabab Kiranvi, who also wrote the screenplay and dialogues. The films stars Nayyar Sultana in the titular role along with Habib-ur-Rehman, who played the male lead, and both played the young to old roles in the film. The film was released in January 1961 and was a box office hit. At annual Nigar Awards, Rehman won Best Actor award for his performance in the film. Plot Surayya and Yousuf love each other since childhood however, get separate when Surayya's brother Toufik decides to marry her with Dilshad. Yousuf sends her mother to Surayya's house with his proposal but Toufik denies her insultingly due to past conflict between the two families. Surayya goes to Lahore after marrying Dilshad. On the other hand, Yousuf's mother gets him married to Yaseem. He gets a job of manager in Dilshad's office in Lahore. After an year, Yasmeen dies after giving birth to a child. Shabab Kiranvi
Shabab Kiranwi (born Nazir Ahmed; 1925 5 November 1982) was a Pakistani film director, producer, and occasional screenwriter, lyricist and a novelist. He debuted in the Cinema of Pakistan, Pakistani film industry as a producer and lyricist with ''Jalwa'' (1955) while he made his directorial debut with ''Surayya'' (1961). He directed more than fifty films out of seventy-five he produced. His films as a producer includes ''Surayya'' (1961) and ''Shama-e-Mohabbat'' (1977) among others. Most of his films revolve around social issues, social inequality concerning poor and rich besides creating comedy films. He made his first color motion picture film in 1969 with ''Tumhi ho Mehboob Meray''. ''Bemisaal'' is one of his films he worked as a scriptwriter. Yasmin (actress)
Yasmin, also spelled as Yasmeen, is a Pakistani actress known for her work in Pakistani cinema. Her career spanned over two decades during which she appeared as a leading lady as well as supporting roles in the films of Golden Age of Pakistani cinema. She retired from acting after her marriage with Shaukat Hussain Rizvi. Personal life Yasmin was born as Zarina in Bombay, British India in 1935. She was educated there. She first married Jaffar Shah Bokhari. After her divorce with Bokhari, she married director Shaukat Hussain Rizvi, who was the former husband of Noor Jehan. Career Yasmeen made her debut in 1949 with A.R. Kardar's '' Dillagi'' in a recurring role. After partition, she shifted to Pakistan and started working in Pakistani cinema. The Nigar Awards ( ur, , translit=Inʿām Negār, lit=Picture Awards) were presented in an annual award show to recognize outstanding achievement in Pakistani cinema. The honors are awarded by Nigar Magazine founded in 1948. The Nigar Awards are Pakistan's version of the Academy Awards. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists. Naseem Begum
Naseem Begum ( ur, ), (24 February 1936 – 29 September 1971) was a popular, and well known Pakistani film playback singer. She was known as ''The Tradegy Queen'' for singing sorrowful and downhearted songs in films. She rose to prominence towards the end of the 1950s, and by 1964, she had won the prestigious Nigar Awards on four occasions. Despite originally being billed as a ''Second Noor Jehan'', Naseem Begum quickly carved out her own successful niche in the Pakistani film industry. Munir Hussain (singer)
Munir Hussain (1930 - 27 September 1995) was a Pakistani playback singer. While working in Pakistani films for over thirty-eight years, he primarily sung for Urdu and Punjabi language films. His work include 217 songs in 163 films. He was one of the first Pakistani singers who earned his recognition in Lollywood, a film industry that produces Urdu and Punjabi-language films. Bibbo (born Ishrat Sultana 1906 – 1972) was a music composer, singer and actress who worked in both Indian and Pakistani films. She acted in Indian cinema from 1933 to 1947 before moving to Pakistan, following Partition of India in 1947.
