Supreme Soviet Of The Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic
The Supreme Soviet of the Armenian SSR ( hy, ՀԽՍՀ Գերագույն խորհուրդ, HKhSH Geraguyn khorhurd; russian: Верховный Совет Армянской ССР) was the supreme soviet (main legislative institution) of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic (from July 1938), and the independent Republic of Armenia, from 23 August 1990 until 1995 when it was superseded by the National Assembly, with the adoption of the Armenian Constitution. The Supreme Council was preceded by the Armenian National Council (1917-1918) and then a Khorhurd (legislature), before Armenia became part of the Soviet Union in 1920. Coat Of Arms Of The Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic
The emblem of the Armenian SSR was devised from an initial prototype sketch by Martiros Saryan, a famous Armenian painter, and was adopted in 1937 by the government of the Armenian SSR. Overview The emblem prominently features Mount Ararat, regarded as the national symbol of Armenia. The white grapes shown immediately beneath Ararat represent the traditional Biblical account of the first vineyard that Noah planted upon his descent from his ark as a sign of rebirth of humanity. The inner rim on the sides of the grapes includes wheat, symbolic of the land and natural resources of Armenia. Above Mount Ararat is the hammer and sickle with the red star behind it. Samand Siabandov
Samand Aliyevich Siabandov (russian: Саманд Алиевич Сиабандов, ku, Semendê Elî Siyabendov; 20 November 1909 – 14 November 1989) was a Soviet writer, military officer and politician of Yezidi-Kurdish origin who was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union during the Soviet war against Nazi Germany. Siabandov joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1931 and in 1938 was elected deputy in the Supreme Soviet of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic. Later he was a Minister of Agriculture for the Armenian SSR. After World War II he was elected to the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union. Declaration Of State Sovereignty Of Armenia
The Declaration of State Sovereignty of Armenia was signed by Armenia's president Levon Ter-Petrossian and Supreme Council of Armenia secretary Ara Sahakian on August 23, 1990 in Yerevan, Armenia. The Republic of Armenia was established on September 23, 1991 upon dissolution of the Soviet Union. The declaration was rooted in the December 1, 1989, joint decision of the Armenian SSR Supreme Council and the Artsakh National Council on the "Reunification of the Armenian SSR and the Mountainous Region of Karabakh" with ties to the Republic of Armenia established on May 28, 1918 and the Declaration of Independence of Armenia (1918).
