Lullabies In The Dark
A lullaby (), or cradle song, is a soothing song or piece of music that is usually played for (or sung to) children (for adults see music and sleep). The purposes of lullabies vary. In some societies they are used to pass down cultural knowledge or tradition. In addition, lullabies are often used for the developing of communication skills, indication of emotional intent, maintenance of infants' undivided attention, modulation of infants' arousal, and regulation of behavior. Perhaps one of the most important uses of lullabies is as a sleep aid for infants. As a result, the music is often simple and repetitive. Lullabies can be found in many countries, and have existed since ancient times. Etymology The term 'lullaby' derives from the Middle English ''lullen'' ("to lull") and ''by'' 'e''(in the sense of "near"); it was first recorded circa 1560. A folk etymology derives ''lullaby'' from "Lilith-Abi" (Hebrew for "Lilith, begone"). In the Jewish tradition, Lilith was a demon who w ...

Tocotronic
Tocotronic is a German rock band founded in 1993 (see 1993 in music). Similar to Blumfeld or Die Sterne they are considered a part of the Hamburger Schule (''Hamburg School'') movement. They are influential for bands such as Wir sind Helden. Tocotronic were signed by L'Age D'Or, a German independent record label situated in Hamburg, in 1994 after quickly gaining popularity in the local scene. Their early style consists of ironic sloganeering ("I want to be part of a youth movement") and almost diary-like songwriting, paired with a lo-fi rock sound with elements of punk rock and grunge. In 1995, they released their debut album ''Digital ist besser'' (Digital is better), followed by their second album ''Nach der verlorenen Zeit'' (After the Lost Time) only a few months later. Their third album, released in 1996, was the first to hit the German charts. The music became more complex over time, their lyrics less direct, resulting in a sound that was compared to that of Pavement on ...

Baby's On Fire
"Baby's on Fire" is the third track on English musician Brian Eno's 1974 debut solo album ''Here Come the Warm Jets''. Writing and recording Eno recorded "Baby's on Fire" during the ''Here Come the Warm Jets'' sessions in September 1973 at Majestic Studios, London, where he had previously recorded the majority of his earlier material. The track was produced by Eno, who handled production and mixing duties on the bulk of the album's recording, and was created with musicians Simon King, Marty Simon, Robert Fripp, Paul Rudolph, and John Wetton. The song is a surreal fantasy about a photography session involving a burning woman and unthinking, laughing onlookers, and two second-hand tobacconists.Tamm, 1995. p. 110 Live recordings of the song have appeared on various Eno recordings, the first being ''June 1, 1974'', performed with Kevin Ayers, John Cale, Ollie Halsall and Eddie Sparrow. Eno spoke positively about this performance, saying, "The instruments were incredibly out of tu ...

The Golden Ravedays
''The Golden Ravedays'' is the third studio album by Aksel Schaufler under his alias of Superpitcher. It was released by his label Hippie Dance over the course of 2017, with one 12" "chapter" vinyl record released at the end of each month (barring ''The Golden Ravedays 12'', released mid-December.) The album has been described as autobiographical, inspired by all of Schaufler's favourite musical touchstones. Schaufler wished to release all of the songs included within in their original lengths, which necessitated the release of a series of 12" records. The end of 2017 saw the release of a boxset called ''The Golden Ravedays Collection'' that included all twelve 12" records with a poster and book; the 12th installment was also released in an edition that contained the box, poster and book for those who had already purchased the other 11 installments. All twelve parts were also released digitally through Bandcamp. Contents and production Instead of returning directly to tech house, ...

Copenhagen Distortion
Copenhagen Distortion is a celebration of "Copenhagen Night Life and New Dance Music". With an estimated 100,000 guests per day, it is one of the largest annual gatherings in Europe. The Distortion week starts with 20-40 street parties in the Nørrebro and Vesterbro districts – with an "anything goes" music profile – and the week ends with the Distortion Ø festival with six to ten stages on an industrial island in the Copenhagen harbour – with focus on new dance music: hiphop, trap, world, house, experimental and techno. History The idea of ultra-mobility and the tag-line "Distortion — A Celebration of Copenhagen Nightlife" was born in September 1998 for a one-night party in the nightclub Mantra in Tivoli, Copenhagen, established by Thomas Fleurquin. Distortion became a five-day mobile festival in June 2000. In the period 1998–2007, Distortion was a small, chaotic, not-fully-legal five-day party-crawl through Copenhagen, mainly for the local underground art and mus ...
