Superboy (TV Series)
''Superboy'' is an American television series based on the fictional DC comic book character Superman's early years as Superboy. The show ran from 1988–1992 in syndication. It was renamed ''The Adventures of Superboy'' at the start of the third season. Production history The ''Superboy'' series was brought to the screen by executive producers Ilya and Alexander Salkind, the producers of the first three '' Superman'' films and the 1984 ''Supergirl'' film. This series and the release of the 1988 '' Superman'' animated series on CBS coincided with the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Superman character that year. Ironically, the series came about a year after DC Comics had "erased" the character of Superboy from their continuity in the ''Man of Steel'' reboot by John Byrne. Superhero Fiction
Superhero fiction is a genre of speculative fiction examining the adventure fiction, adventures, personalities and ethics of costumed crime fighters known as superheroes, who often possess Superpower (ability), superhuman powers and battle similarly powered criminals known as supervillains. Superboy
Superboy is the name of several fictional superheroes appearing in American comicbooks published by DC Comics. These characters have been featured in several eponymous comic series, in addition to ''Adventure Comics'' and other series featuring teenage superhero groups. From the character's first published story in 1944 until 1992, the title "''Superboy''" was applied to versions of the adventures of Superman, Superman (Kal-El) as a boy, teenager or young adult. The primary settings for the stories were the fictional town of Smallville (comics), Smallville, the Legion of Super-Heroes, 30th Century (where Superboy featured in time travel adventures with the Legion of Super-Heroes) and universities attended by Clark Kent. John Haymes Newton
John Haymes Newton (born December 29, 1965) is a former American actor. He is known for his regular roles on the television programs ''Superboy'' as Clark Kent in the show's first season and as Ryan McBride on the soap opera ''Melrose Place''. He is currently focused on energy healing practices. Career John Newton is best known for playing the lead role of Clark Kent/Superboy in the TV series ''Superboy'' during the show's first season from 1988 to 1989. He was replaced by Gerard Christopher in the role for the remainder of the show's run. Besides ''Superboy'', he played regular roles on the television programs ''Melrose Place'' and ''The Untouchables''. He had a recurring role on ''Models, Inc.'' before being transferred onto ''Melrose Place'' after its cancellation. Both shows were part of the Beverly Hills, 90210 franchise. John Byrne (comics)
John Lindley Byrne (; born July 6, 1950) is a British-born American writer and artist of superhero comics. Since the mid-1970s, Byrne has worked on many major superheroes; with noted work on Marvel Comics' ''X-Men'', ''She-Hulk'' and ''Fantastic Four''. Byrne also facilitated the 1986 relaunch of DC Comics' ''Superman'' franchise, the first issue of which featured comics' first variant cover. Coming into the comics profession as penciller, inker, letterer and writer on his earliest work, Byrne began co-plotting the ''X-Men'' comics during his tenure on them, and launched his writing career in earnest with ''Fantastic Four'' (where he also served as penciler and inker).
