Super Summer Sizzler Spectacular
The Super Summer Sizzler Spectacular was a professional wrestling live event produced by NWA Eastern Championship Wrestling (ECW) on June 19, 1993. The event was held in the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States. The Super Summer Sizzler Spectacular was ECW's first "supercard" and the first ECW event to be released on VHS. In 2020, it was added to the WWE Network. Event The commentator for the Super Summer Sizzler Spectacular was Jay Sulli, with guest commentary from Paul E. Dangerously, Terry Funk, Joey Styles and Tod Gordon. The referees were Jim Molineaux, John Finnegan, and Kevin Christian. The event was attended by approximately 650 people. The opening bout saw Don E. Allen wrestle Herve Renesto to a no contest. This match was not included on the VHS release. 2300 Arena is a multipurpose indoor arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania used primarily for professional wrestling, boxing, mixed martial arts, and concert events. Originally known as Viking Hall, the venue has since been named Alhambra Arena, The Arena and Asylum Arena. It was previously known unofficially as ECW Arena when it was home to Extreme Championship Wrestling from 1993 to 2001, and later XPW Arena when it was home to Xtreme Pro Wrestling from 2002 to 2003. The venue has hosted major professional wrestling broadcasts including ECW Barely Legal (1997), DGUSA Enter the Dragon (2009–2010), ROH Final Battle (2015) and ROH Death Before Dishonor (2021). Aerial techniques, also known as "high-flying moves" are maneuvers in professional wrestling using the ring's posts and ropes as aids, in many cases to demonstrate the speed and agility of smaller, nimble and acrobatically inclined wrestlers preferring this style instead of throwing or locking the opponent.
