Super Speed (1925 Film)
''Super Speed'' is a 1925 American silent comedy film directed by Al Rogell and starring Reed Howes and Mildred Harris. Plot As described in a review in a film magazine, working as a driver for his uncle who owns a big milk company, Pat O'Farrell (Howes) saves Claire Knight (Harris) from some thugs, and it is a case of love at first sight. Pat finds that crooked lawyer Stanton Wade (Lewis) plans to steal an invention, a supercharger from his old friend Dad Perkins (Williams) and manages to get it after a running fight and chase over the rooftops with Wade's henchmen. 0claire, still believing him to be a milkman, invites him to a party. He comes all dressed up and tells her the truth. She confides that her father is deeply in debt to Wade. Pat sees a chance to win, and equips one of the cars, a Knight Hawk manufactured by Claire's father, with the supercharger and drive it in the race. Albert S. Rogell (August 21, 1901 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - April 7, 1988 Los Angeles, California) was an American film director. Rogell directed more than a hundred movies between 1921 and 1958. Rayart Pictures was one of the early film production and distribution companies operating independently of the major Hollywood studios in the United States during the later silent film era from the mid-to-late 1920s and into the early "talkies" era of early films with sound in the late 1920s and early 1930s. It established its own distribution network, specialising in westerns. It was begun by W. Ray Johnston in 1924, after whom the company was named. It was originally created as a low budget release agent, and like the other so-called Poverty Row studios, was based in a small plot off Sunset Strip, by Gower Street.
