''Super Princess Peach'' is a platform video game developed by Tose and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS handheld game console. It was released in Japan in October 2005 and worldwide the following year. ''Super Princess Peach'' is the second game to feature Princess Peach as the only main playable character after the game '' Princess Toadstool's Castle Run'' released in 1990 on the Nelsonic Game Watch''.'' The game follows Peach's trip to Vibe Island to rescue Mario and Luigi, who have been kidnapped by Bowser, in a reversal of the damsel in distress trope. First announced by Nintendo in 2004, ''Super Princess Peach'' was released in Japan in October 2005 and later elsewhere in 2006. Tose (company)
() (also called Tose Software) is a Japanese video game development company based in Kyoto. It is mostly known for developing Nintendo's ''Game & Watch Gallery'' series, various ''Dragon Ball'' games, as well as other Nintendo products. Tose has developed or co-developed over 1,000 games since the company's inception in 1979, but is virtually never credited in the games themselves (an exception to this is ''Game & Watch Gallery 4'' and ''The Legendary Starfy'' series, as Tose shares the copyright with Nintendo). Toad (Nintendo)
Toad, known in Japan as is a fictional character who primarily appears in Nintendo's Mario (franchise), ''Mario'' franchise. A humanoid with a mushroom-like head, Toad was created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, and is portrayed as a citizen of the Mushroom Kingdom and is one of Princess Peach's most loyal attendants, constantly working on her behalf. They are usually seen as a non-player character who provides assistance to Mario and his friends in most games, but there are times when Toad takes center stage and appears as a protagonist, as seen in ''Super Mario Bros. 2'', ''Wario's Woods'' and ''Super Mario 3D World.'' While Toad is the name of an individual, it also refers to their entire race (much like Yoshi and Birdo).
