Super Conflict
''Super Conflict'' is a turn-based strategy video game, strategy video game that was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Super NES. It is the sequel to ''Conflict (video game), Conflict'' for the NES. Gameplay The player assumes the role of a commander of combined forces. The scope of each battle and the number and variety of military units available to fight with, increases as the game progresses. The game was marketed as gulf war themed, but gameplay is more consistent with potential cold war scenarios. There are two modes: short (which allows players to plan strategic battles without any tactical consequences) and long (which allows all units to participate in up to four rounds of constant warfare). The blue forces are armed with United States, American weapons while the red forces are armed with Soviet Union, Soviet-made weapons. Manley & Associates was an independent video game developer founded in 1982 in video gaming, 1982, which developed over 70 titles for video game publishers, including Electronic Arts, Activision, Disney, GameTek, Publishing International, and Spectrum HoloByte. Many of the company's early titles were one or two person projects created in founder Ivan Manley's house, but eventually it grew to roughly 60 people working from an office park in Issaquah, Washington. ''Conflict'' is a hex-based game, hex-based Nintendo Entertainment System, NES Wargaming, war game where the player is a commander who must lead their forces to victory. The player can earn fame points by occupying urban warfare, cities and airports and destroying units of the opponent's army; fame points are lost by losing units of one's army in battle or retreating from battles. The goal of each of the 16 scenarios is to destroy the enemy's flag tank. The first player controls the blue (Western Bloc) forces while the computer (or second player) controls red (Eastern Bloc) troops. The Super Nintendo has a library of games, which were released in plastic encased ROM cartridges. The cartridges are shaped differently for different regions; North American cartridges have a rectangular bottom with inset grooves matching protruding tabs in the console, while other regions' cartridges are narrower with a smooth curve on the front and no grooves. The physical incompatibility can be overcome with use of various adapters, or through modification of the console. Internally, a regional lockout chip within the console and in each cartridge prevents PAL region games from being played on Japanese or North American consoles and vice versa. Hex Map
A hex map, hex board, or hex grid is a game board design commonly used in wargames of all scales. The map is subdivided into a hexagonal tiling, small regular hexagons of identical size. Advantages and disadvantages The primary advantage of a hex map over a traditional square grid map is that the distance between the center of each and every pair of adjacent hex cells (or ''hex'') is the same. By comparison, in a square grid map, the distance from the center of each square cell to the center of the four diagonal adjacent cells it shares a corner with is times that of the distance to the center of the four adjacent cells it shares an edge with.
