SuperM
SuperM (Hangul: 슈퍼엠) is a South Korean supergroup formed in 2019 by SM Entertainment and Capitol Music Group. The group consists of seven members from four SM Entertainment boy bands: Taemin from Shinee, Baekhyun and Kai from Exo, Taeyong and Mark from NCT 127, and Ten and Lucas from WayV. The group debuted on October 4, 2019, with their self-titled EP, which entered the US ''Billboard'' 200 at number one, making SuperM the first Asian artist in history to top the chart with a debut release. Their debut single, "Jopping", was among ''Billboard'''s Critics' Picks for the "25 Best K-pop Songs" of 2019. SuperM (EP)
''SuperM'' is the eponymous debut extended play (EP) by South Korean supergroup SuperM. It was released on October 4, 2019 by SM Entertainment, Capitol Records and Dreamus. The CD version of the EP has eight different versions: one individual edition for each member and a "united" version. The EP debuted at the top spot of the United States' ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart, becoming the first Korean act to top the chart with their debut release. Background and release On August 7, 2019, Capitol Music Group chairman Steve Barnett and SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo-man announced SuperM's debut at Capitol Congress. Jopping
"Jopping" is the debut single by South Korean pop group SuperM. It was released on October 4, 2019 as the first single from the eponymous debut extended play by SM Entertainment and Capitol Records. Composition and lyrics "Jopping", a combination of words jumping and popping, is the lead track off SuperM’s self-titled debut EP. The song features heavy electro-pop influences with references to brit-pop sounds. The song uses cinematic-style horns and a groovy beat. A fusion of pop-rock, R&B, and hip-hop genres can be heard in the vocal and rap talents of each member. Music video Filmed in the UAE desert and Dubai’s urban jungle, the futuristic video features supercars and bikes in action, while a helicopter sits pretty in the background. Chittaphon Leechaiyapornkul ( th, ชิตพล ลี้ชัยพรกุล; ; ; born February 27, 1996), known professionally as Ten ( th, เตนล์, ko, 텐), is a Thai singer and dancer based in South Korea and China. Byun Baek-hyun (; born May 6, 1992), better known mononymously as Baekhyun, is a South Korean singer, songwriter and actor. Baekhyun began training under SM Entertainment in 2011. Mark Lee (born August 2, 1999), professionally known as Mark, is a Canadian rapper, singer, dancer and songwriter based in South Korea.
