The Suntaraporn Band is the first Luk Krung (ลูกกรุง) music band in Thailand, established in November 20, 1939 by Eua Sunthornsanan and His friends. Luk krung ( th, ลูกกรุง, ; literally "child of the city"), also called ''phleng luk krung'' ( เพลงลูกกรุง), is a genre of Thai popular music. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Eua Sunthornsanan
Eua Suntornsanan ( th, เอื้อ สุนทรสนาน; ; January 21, 1910, Amphawa, Samut Songkhram Province – April 1, 1981) was a singer, Thai composer and bandleader of Suntaraporn band. He was a pioneer in introducing Western music into Thai culture. He started the trend of international style Thai music, or Phleng Thai Sakon. He composed over 2,000 songs that have been popular until today, for example, Rumwong Loy Kratong, many Songkran and New Year songs, and other Thai traditional songs. In 1975, he was given an insignia by the king. In 1981 he died of cancer. In 2007, the Ministry of Culture of Thailand nominated Kru Eua for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Culture Organization (UNESCO) to honor Kru Eua Suntornsanan as Personality of the Year on the list of Anniversary of World Personalities and Historic Events 2010-2011, which was granted in 2010. Pensri Pomchoosri ( th, เพ็ญศรี พุ่มชูศรี; ; June 17, 1929 in Changwat Phitsanulok – May 14, 2007 in Changwat Samut Prakan) was a Thai pop singer and actress, active for more than five decades from the 1940s. She was named a National Artist of Thailand in 1991. She was married to writer Suwat Woradilok, also a National Artist, who died on April 15, 2007. Phra Chenduriyang (Piti Vādyakara) ( th, พระเจนดุริยางค์ (ปิติ วาทยะกร), ; born as ''Peter Feit'', (July 13, 1883 – December 25, 1968) was a Thai composer, conductor, music professor, collector and arranger.
