Sunil Prajapati
Sunil Prajapati ( ne, सुनिल प्रजापति) is a Nepalese politician who is the current mayor of Bhaktapur, belonging to the Nepal Workers Peasants Party. In the 1999 parliamentary election Prajapati contested the Bhaktapur 2 constituency. He finished second with 13,432 votes. After the fall of King Gyanendra's direct rule in 2006, Prajapati was nominated to the interim legislature of Nepal. Prajapati became a member of the Interim Constitution Drafting Committee. In April 2008, he won the Bhaktapur-2 seat in the Constituent Assembly election. Prajapati ( sa, प्रजापति, Prajāpati, lord and protector of creation) is a Vedic deity of Hinduism. In later literature, Prajapati is identified with the creator god Brahma, but the term also connotes many different gods, depending on the Hindu text, ranging from being the creator god to being same as one of the following: Viswakarma, Agni, Indra, Daksha, and many others, reflecting the diverse Hindu cosmology. Kumhar is a caste or community in India, Nepal and Pakistan. Kumhar have historically been associated with art of pottery. Etymology The Kumhars derive their name from the Sanskrit word ''Kumbhakar'' meaning earthen-pot maker. Dravidian languages conform to the same meaning of the term ''Kumbhakar''. The term ''Bhande'', used to designate the Kumhar caste, also means pot. The potters of Amritsar are called ''Kulal'' or ''Kalal'', the term used in Yajurveda to denote the potter class. 2022 Dhangadhi Municipal Election
Municipal election for Dhangadhi took place on 13 May 2022, with all 97 positions up for election across 19 wards. The electorate elected a mayor, a deputy mayor, 19 ward chairs and 76 ward members. An indirect election will also be held to elect five female members and an additional three female members from the Dalit and minority community to the municipal executive. Independent candidate Gopal Hamal was elected mayor of the sub-metropolitan city defeating incumbent mayor Nrip Bahadur Wad of the Nepali Congress. Congress however regained control of the council. 2017 Nepalese Local Elections
The 2017 Nepalese local elections were held in Nepal in three phases on 14 May, 28 June and 18 September in 6 metropolitan cities, 11 sub-metropolitan cities, 276 municipalities and 460 rural municipalities. It was the first local level election to be held since the promulgation of the 2015 constitution. Background Local elections were held in 53 municipalities in February 2006 under regime of King Gyanendra but were boycotted by the major political parties and saw low voter turnout. The Second Constituent Assembly of Nepal, later converted to the Legislature Parliament ( ne, व्यवस्थापिका संसद), was a unicameral legislature of Nepal. It was elected in the 2013 Constituent Assembly elections after the failure of the first Constituent Assembly to promulgate a new constitution. Constituent Assembly elections were held in Nepal on 19 November 2013. The vote was repeatedly delayed, having previously been planned for 22 November 2012 following the dissolution of the 1st Constituent Assembly on 27 May 2012, but it was put off by the election commission. The Nepali Congress emerged as the largest party in the 2nd Nepalese Constituent Assembly, winning 196 of the 575 elected seats.
