Suncokret
Suncokret ( sr-cyr, Сунцокрет; trans. ''Sunflower'') was a Yugoslav acoustic rock band from Belgrade. Band history 1975 — 1980 The band was formed in 1975 by former Zajedno member Bora Đorđević (vocals and acoustic guitar), a former U Cvetu Mladosti member Nenad Božić (vocals and acoustic guitar) and female singers Snežana Jandrlić and Vesna Rakočević. After release of the single "Kara Mustafa", Vesna Rakočević left the band and joined Zdravo, and Bilja Krstić and Gorica Popović became new Suncokret members. At the half of 1976, they were joined by bass guitarist Bata Sokić. The band released several successful singles, some of them inspired by traditional songs. In 1976, they appeared in Mića Milošević's film ''Tit for Tat'', and some of their songs were used in the film. Bora Đorđević
Borisav "Bora" Đorđević ( sr-cyr, Борисав, Бора Ђорђевић; born 1 November 1952), also known as Bora Čorba ( sr-cyr, Бора Чорба), is a Serbian singer, songwriter, and poet. He is best known as the frontman of the rock band Riblja Čorba. Renowned for his brand of poetic lyrics and husky baritone voice, Đorđević is widely considered one of the top and most influential authors of the Serbian and Yugoslav rock scene. Early life Čačak years Đorđević was born in Čačak in 1952 to machinist father Dragoljub and mother Nerandža, professor of Serbian. At age thirteen, he formed his first band, Hermelini (trans. ''The Ermines''), with Borko Ilić (lead guitar), Prvoslav Savić (rhythm guitar), and Aca Dimitrijević (drums). Riblja Čorba ( sr-Cyrl, Рибља Чорба, pronounced ; translation: lit. ''Fish Stew'') is a Serbian and former Yugoslav rock band formed in Belgrade in 1978. The band was one of the most popular and most influential acts of the Yugoslav rock scene. Riblja Čorba was formed in 1978 by vocalist Bora Đorđević, guitarist Rajko Kojić, bass guitarist Miša Aleksić and drummer Vicko Milatović. Festival Omladina
Festival Omladina (English: ''Youth Festival''), also known as Omladinski Festival, is a music festival held in Subotica, Serbia. The festival was founded in 1961 as a competition of young composers of popular music. Their compositions were initially performed by pop singers, but soon the performers of competing compositions became rock bands. In the 1970s, the non-competitive part, featuring established rock acts, was added to the program, and in the 1980s the festival became a competition of young rock bands. During the years, some of the most notable acts of the Yugoslav pop and rock scene performed on the festival. In 1990, at the beginning of the breakup of Yugoslavia, the festival ceased to exist. Branko Isaković
Branko Isaković (born June 24, 1958) is a Serbian bass player, producer and composer of Balkan ambient beat. After a long career in pop, rock, and ethno bands he launched his ''Divine Sound'' project with healing music. Biography Isaković was born in Valjevo in 1958 and moved to Belgrade in 1961. His first interest in music came about 1970 when his school friend, today well known guitar player and producer Dušan "Duda" Bezuha needed a rhythm guitarist for his rhythm and blues band. Having finished high school Isaković joined the acoustic rock band Suncokret as a replacement for Bata Sokić who went to serve the army. Isaković left the band in 1978. Ivan Vdović
Ivan "Ivica" Vdović ( sr-cyr, Иван "Ивица" Вдовић; 14 March 1961 – 25 September 1992), also known as Vd ( sr-cyr, Вд), was a Serbian musician, drummer of Yugoslav rock bands such as Suncokret, Šarlo Akrobata and Katarina II. In his junior year of high school, Vdović became a member of the band Limunovo drvo led by Milan Mladenović. He later played drums in Bora Đorđević's band Suncokret but became famous as the drummer of Šarlo Akrobata whose other two members were Mladenović and Dušan Kojić. He stayed with Šarlo Akrobata from April 1980 to October 1981, and then joined Mladenović to form Katarina II together with Bojan Pečar, Gagi Mihajlović and Margita Stefanović. Biljana "Bilja" Krstić (Serbian Cyrillic: Биљана "Биља" Крстић, Serbo-Croatian pronunciation: [bǐʎana bǐːʎa kř̩ːstitɕ]; born 9 November 1955) is a Serbian singer. She was born in 1955 in Niš and brought up on the folk traditions of central Serbia. Biljana first studied music in Niš and continued her education in Belgrade to study music at the Belgrade University of Arts. Upon graduating in Belgrade she set out on an extremely successful career in music. Lutka Sa Naslovne Strane
"Lutka sa naslovne strane" ("Front Cover Babe") is the debut single from the influential Serbian and former Yugoslav rock band Riblja Čorba. The song, a hard rock ballad about a fame-hungry model, was originally written during the time Riblja Čorba leader Bora Đorđević was a member of the acoustic rock band Suncokret. The song led to a clash between Đorđević and other members, which caused Đorđević to leave Suncokret and join Rani Mraz. After only three months spent in Rani Mraz, Đorđević left the band and with the members of the band SOS formed Riblja Čorba, which released "Lutka sa naslovne strane" as their debut single. On the song recording jazz trumpeter Stjepko Gut played the piano. The song was performed by Đorđević and Arsen Dedić on the live album ''Arsen & Bora Čorba Unplugged `87''. Doktor Spira i Ljudska Bića ( sr-cyr, Доктор Спира и Људска Бића; trans. ''Doctor Spira and the Human Beings'') were a Serbian new wave/alternative rock band from Belgrade. They were a prominent act of the Yugoslav new wave scene. Formed in the late 1970s by Dušan Mihajlović "Spira" (acoustic guitar, vocals), who had already gained prominence on the Yugoslav acoustic rock scene, Doktor Spira i Ljudska Bića were a part of the Yugoslav new wave scene. Despite Spirić's cult status on the Belgrade scene, ''Dijagnoza'' was refused by major Yugoslav record labels, so Mihajlović self-released the album in 1981. Doktor Spira i Ljudska Bića disbanded in 1985. A year later, the band's debut album was reissued by PGP-RTB, and in 1987 Mihajlović recorded another album, which remained unreleased until 2007. Rani Mraz (Serbian Cyrillic: Рани Мраз; trans. ''Early Frost'') were a former Yugoslav rock band from Novi Sad, formed in 1977 by former Žetva member Đorđe Balašević. During the initial period, the band went through several lineup changes, until Balašević and female singer Biljana Krstić remained the only official members of the band.
