Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail
The Dr Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail () was set up in November 1996 by the Central and Western District Council to commemorate the 130th birthday of Sun Yat-sen. It includes 16 spots in the areas of Central and Sheung Wan in Hong Kong, related to the life of Sun Yat-sen and other revolutionaries in the late Qing era. Originally the Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail had 13 markers; in 2001, it was renovated and renamed, and two spots (now the 1st and the 7th spots) were added to it. In 2018, the trail was further updated under a Revitalization Project, where artists were commissioned by the government to create art at each location. There are multiple bronze markers embedded in sidewalks and handrails throughout the city, noting the trail. Although about 600m north of the trail, the Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park in Sai Ying Pun contains a large concrete map of the trail near its main gate. Po Hing Fong
Po Hing Fong is a street in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong. It is also a cul-de-sac. In recent years, it has transformed into a new funky neighborhood in Hong Kong and nicknamed "PoHo" as more artists and interesting shops, such as bohemian cafés, boutiques and design studios, have moved in. History Po Hing Fong was an original site of one of the Tong Meng Hui Reception Centres, an anti-Qing revolutionary organisation led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, to provide asylums for revolutionaries. Chau Siu-ki, a prominent Hong Kong businessman used to own two houses at Po Hing Fong. Sir Cecil Clementi, the then Governor of Hong Kong, lived at one of Chau's houses when he was a civil servant. On 17 July 1925 shortly before 9 a.m., an extensive wall behind the houses near the Caine Road- Ladder Street end undermined by the heavy rains of the past three days. Aberdeen Street
Aberdeen Street is a border street dividing Sheung Wan and Central on Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. It ascends from Queen's Road Central to Caine Road in Mid-Levels. The street is named after George Hamilton-Gordon, 4th Earl of Aberdeen, Foreign Secretary at the time of the cession of Hong Kong Island to the United Kingdom in 1842. History In the early days after 1841, while Choong Wan was planned to be business centre of Victoria City and an area of Westener population, Chinese population was removed from Choong Wan to the area around Tai Ping Shan Street in Sheung Wan and Sheung Wan became the area of Chinese population. South of Hollywood Road was the Alice Memorial Hospital and the College of Medicine where Sun Yat-sen graduated with distinction in 1892. Gage Street
Gage Street () is a street in Central, Hong Kong. It is on the lower hill and between the junction with Cochrane Street and Lyndhurst Terrace, Graham Street and Aberdeen Street. The street is mainly a market. It is named after William Hall Gage. The 2013 novel ''Gage Street Courtesan'' by Christopher New depicts the European courtesans who lived in that street in the 19th century. Yeung Ku-wan
Yeung Ku-wan (19 December 1861 – 11 January 1901) was a Chinese revolutionary of the late Qing dynasty. In 1890, Yeung started the Furen Literary Society in British Hong Kong to spread ideas of revolution against the Qing dynasty and to establish a republic in China. He became the first President of the Hong Kong Chapter of the Revive China Society in 1894 and was, with Sun Yat-sen, in charge of planning an uprising in Canton (now Guangzhou) in 1895 and in Huizhou in 1900. Yeung was assassinated in 1901 in Hong Kong by an agent sent by the Qing government. Names Born Yeung Fei-hung (楊飛鴻), his style name was Siu-chun (肇春). He signed himself 'Yeung Küwan' when he lived in Hong Kong and is now known as Yeung Ku-wan.
