''Sun, Wine and Hard Nuts'' (German: ''Sonne, Wein und harte Nüsse'') is a West German crime (genre), crime television series broadcast on ARD (broadcaster), ARD.Bock & Bergfelder p.347 A retired German police inspector goes to live on the French Riviera with his sister, but soon becomes involved helping the local police solve crimes. The show was a follow-up to Erik Ode's role in the long-running Munich-set detective show ''Der Kommissar (TV series), Der Kommissar''. The role of his sister was played by his real-life wife Hilde Volk. The series was location shooting, shot on location in Provence. Iris Renate Dorothea Berben (, born 12 August 1950) is a German actress and voice actress. Biography Berben was born in Detmold, North Rhine-Westphalia. She grew up in Hamburg, where her parents ran a restaurant. Berben has appeared in about 150 film and television productions since 1969. Wolfgang Preiss (27 February 1910 – 27 November 2002) was a German theatre, film and television actor. The son of a teacher, Preiss studied philosophy, German, and drama in the early 1930s. He also took private acting classes with Hans Schlenck, making his stage début in Munich in 1932. He appeared in various theatre productions in Heidelberg, Königsberg, Bonn, Bremen, Stuttgart and Berlin. In 1942, he made his film début – he was specifically exempted from military service – in the UFA production ''Die grosse Liebe'' with Zarah Leander. Wolfgang Kieling (16 March 1924 – 7 October 1985) was a German actor. Biography In films since childhood in his native Germany, Kieling appeared in a few American films, notably in Alfred Hitchcock's ''Torn Curtain'' (1966), where he played Gromek, an East German agent brutally slain by Paul Newman's character.
