Arcangela Felice Assunta Wertmüller von Elgg Spanol von Braueich (14 August 1928 – 9 December 2021), known as Lina Wertmüller (), was an Italian film director and screenwriter. She is best known for her 1970s art film, art house films ''Seven Beauties'' (a genre-bending World War II film for which she became the first female director to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director in 1977), ''The Seduction of Mimi'', ''Love and Anarchy'', and ''Swept Away (1974 film), Swept Away''. Italy has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since the conception of the award. The award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was not created until 1956; however, between 1947 and 1955, the Academy presented Honorary Awards to the best foreign language films released in the United States. These awards were not competitive, as there were no nominees but simply a winner every year that was voted on by the Board of Governors of the Academy. Arnaldo Ninchi (17 December 1935 – 6 May 2013) was an Italian actor, voice actor and basketball player. Ninchi was born in Pesaro, the son of the actor Annibale. In his youth he was a basketball player, debuting on the national team at just 17 years old. In 1959 he graduated from the Silvio D'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art and began working on stage. John Steiner
John Steiner (7 January 1941 – 31 July 2022) was an English actor. Tall, thin and gaunt, he attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and performed on-stage for the Royal Shakespeare Company, but was best known to audiences for his roles in Italian films, several of which became cult classics. Early life and acting career Steiner was born in Chester, Cheshire on January 7, 1941. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company. He acted in the role of Monsieur Dupere in Peter Brook's production of ''Marat/Sade''. He reprised the role when the play was transferred to Broadway, and again for the 1967 film adaptation. He found work primarily in films including and the original '' Bedazzled'' (1967) with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore. Pino D'Angiò (born Giuseppe Chierchia, , August 14, 1952 in Pompeii) is an Italo disco artist. He is best known for his hit 1980 song, "Ma Quale Idea", which sold over 2 million copies in Europe. The bassline of the track was taken from "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" by McFadden & Whitehead, and later sampled in Madison Avenue's 1999 hit "Don't Call Me Baby".
