Summarfestivalurin (the Summer Festival) is a musical festival in Klaksvík in the Faroe Islands, established in 2004. History 2004 Summarfestivalurin - The Summer Festival - was held for the first time in August 2004 in Klaksvík in the Faroe Islands. Only 3000 tickets were printed this year and all tickets were sold. The main attraction were Ken Hensley known from the British group Uriah Heep (UK), Boney M (DE) and the two very popular local bands Frændur (FO) and Hjarnar (FO). 2005 In 2005 the main attractions was former Westlife Brian McFadden (EI), Anne Linnet (DK), Shakin' Stevens (UK) and the local band Dynamit. More than 6000 tickets were sold this year. 2006 In 2006 the main attractions were Maggie Reilly (UK), F. R. David (FR), The Rasmus (FN), Johnny Deluxe (DK) and former Supertramp Roger Hodgson (CN). Klaksvík
Klaksvík is the second largest town of the Faroe Islands behind Tórshavn. The town is located on Borðoy, which is one of the northernmost islands (the Norðoyar). It is the administrative centre of Klaksvík municipality. History The first settlement at Klaksvík dates back to Viking times, but it was not until the 20th century that the district merged to form a large, modern Faroese town that became a cultural and commercial centre for the Northern Isles and the Faroe Islands as a whole. Klaksvík is located between two inlets lying back to back. It has an important harbour with fishing industry and a modern fishing fleet. Originally, four farms were located where Klaksvík is now. In time, they grew into four villages: Vágur, Myrkjanoyri, Gerðar and Uppsalir; which finally merged to form the town of Klaksvík in 1938. Høgni Lisberg
Høgni Lisberg (born 7 June 1982) is a Faroese musician. Band and personal history Høgni was born in 1982 and is son of Sørin Lisberg and Hallbjørg Eliassen. His father is son of Knút Lisberg, who is cousin to Jens Olivur Lisberg (1896–1920) where his great-grandfather, and thus Jens Olivurs uncle, lived Johan í Smiðjuni. Høgni lived together with his two younger sisters in Leirvík, where he grew up. He moved to Copenhagen in 2004. Høgni Lisberg, also known from ethno-rock band Clickhaze fame, released his first solo album, ''Most Beautiful Things'' in 2003. The album reached number 2 on Tutl Records’ sales charts on the Faroe Islands. Boys In A Band
Boys in a Band are an indie rock band from the Faroe Islands. Formed in 2006 in Gøta, the group comprises vocalist/guitarist Pætur Zachariasson, guitarist Heini, bassist Símun Sakaris, drummer The Rógvi, and Heri Schwartz on hammond organ. The band members claim to play ''Cowboy Rock''. They are the winners of Global Battle of the Bands (2007) (GBOB). History 2006 Boys in a Band formed in September 2006. The same year, they took part in the international music competition GBOB, earning second spot. Nik & Jay is a Danish hip-hop/pop duo made of Niclas Genckel Petersen (born 8 November 1980 in Herlev) and Jannik Brandt Thomsen (born 16 June 1981). Their #2 single ''Hot!'' won them Hit of the Year and Best New Artist at the Danish Music Awards in 2003. Robin Hugh Gibb (22 December 1949 – 20 May 2012) was a British singer and songwriter. The Dreams was a punk rock band from Tórshavn, Faroe Islands formed in 2006. They were based in Denmark along with their producer Lars Pedersen. They also have had success in the Faroe Islands, and all across Europe. Band history Early years (2003 - 2005) In 2003 in Tórshavn, friends Hans Edward Andreasen, Heini Mortensen, Heðin Egholm Skov and Edmund í Garði, formed a punk band called 'Zink'. Heðin left the band in 2004, to be replaced by Eirikur Gilstón Corfitz Andersen. In the same year, they released an album called ''Totally Love Songs'', which contained songs in both Faroese and English.
