Sultans Of String
Sultans of String are an instrumental music group based in Toronto, Ontario, combining elements of Spanish flamenco, Arabic folk, Cuban rhythms, and French Manouche Gypsy-jazz. The group's leader is producer and Canadian musician Chris McKhool. History Founding members Chris McKhool and Kevin Laliberté began performing together in 2004, combing McKhool's six-stringed violin and Laliberté's flamenco guitar. They began recording and touring with a full band, performing at festivals and events around Ontario. In 2007 Sultans of String released their first album, ''Luna', which won a 2007 Musique du Monde Award and an Ontario Independent Music Award for Best Song and Best Instrumental. JUNO Award
The Juno Awards, more popularly known as the JUNOS, are awards presented annually to Canadian musical artists and bands to acknowledge their artistic and technical achievements in all aspects of music. New members of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame are also inducted as part of the awards ceremonies. Chantal Kreviazuk
Chantal Jennifer Kreviazuk (; born May 18, 1974) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, composer, and pianist. Born in Winnipeg, she played music from a young age before signing with Columbia Records in the 1990s. Her debut studio album, ''Under These Rocks and Stones'', was first released in Canada in 1996 and saw commercial success before being issued in the United States the following year to critical praise. Robert Michaels (Roberto Michele Buttarazzi) (born in Toronto, Canada) is a Juno Award winner and nominee, multi-gold and platinum-selling recording artist, guitarist and vocalist. Michaels returned from Canada to his mothers home town of Arpino, Italy when he was just a few years old. Living roughly 95 km southeast of Rome in Italy, he was exposed to Italian music, art, and culture from an early age. The Chieftains
The Chieftains are a traditional Irish folk band formed in Dublin in 1962, by Paddy Moloney, Seán Potts and Michael Tubridy. Their sound, which is almost entirely instrumental and largely built around uilleann pipes, has become synonymous with traditional Irish music. They are regarded as having helped popularise Irish music around the world. They have won six Grammy Awards during their career and they were given a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2002 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Sweet Honey in the Rock is an all-women band, all-woman, African American, African-American a cappella ensemble. They are an United States, American three-time Grammy Award–nominated troupe who express their history as black women through song, dance, and sign language.
