Sultan Abdul Hamid College
Kolej Sultan Abdul Hamid ( en, Sultan Abdul Hamid College; abbreviated SAHC; also known as Maktab Sultan Abdul Hamid) located in Alor Setar, Kedah, is one of Malaysia's oldest and most prestigious schools. Founded in 1908 as Government English School (G.E.S.), it is also one of the country's oldest English-medium schools. The students of Kolej, are mostly boys as Forms 1 to 5 are for boys only, and the Lower and Upper Sixth Forms are co-educational. There were only 50 students back in the year 1908 and by 2007 more than 1200 students were enrolled. The school is fondly known as "Kolej" to the people of Alor Setar and also Kedah as a whole. Students of this school are proudly known as "Collegians". The school's yearly magazine, ''Darulaman'' ("the abode of peace"), takes its name from the state of Kedah's honorific title. Tunku Osman Tunku Mohammad Jewa
Tunku Tan Sri Osman (24 November 1919 – 19 April 1994) was the first Malaysian Armed Forces Chief of Staff. He is a nephew of Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia's first Prime Minister as well as a first cousin to the late Sultan Abdul Halim, the late Tunku Abdul Malik, the late Tunku Annuar and Sultan Sallehuddin since their fathers and The Tunku are brothers (paternal half siblings). Abdul Hamid Omar
Abdul Hamid bin Omar (25 March 1929 – 1 September 2009) was the first Chief Justice of Malaysia. Early life Abdul Hamid Omar was born on 25 March 1929 in Kuala Perlis, Perlis Indera Kayangan. He obtained his early education at the Sultan Abdul Hamid College in Alor Setar in 1940, which could not be completed as a result of the Second World War. During the war period, he was able to master the Japanese language. When the war ended, he returned to Alor Setar to continue his studies and passed his "Senior Cambridge" examination. Mohamed Zahir Ismail
Tun Mohamed Zahir bin Ismail (19 March 1924 – 14 October 2004) was a Malaysian lawyer and politician who served as Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, the lower chamber of the Malaysian Parliament from June 1982 to his death in October 2004. He was the longest-serving officeholder by serving for 22 years, 4 months. He was also the first Chancellor of the International Medical University from 1999 to 2004. Chor Chee Heung (; born 15 March 1955) is a Malaysian politician and was the Member of Parliament of Malaysia for the Alor Setar constituency in Kedah, Malaysia from 21 October 1990 to 5 May 2013. He was a member of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) in the then-governing Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition and was the Minister for Housing and Local Government.
