S. Sukumaran Potti, commonly known as Sukumar, is a popular satirist and cartoonist from Kerala state in southern India. He completed his education from University College, Thiruvananthapuram and joined the Kerala Police Department. He started his literary life as a cartoonist in ''Kerala Kaumudi'' and later became a full-fledged writer and satirist. Along with Veloor Krishnankutty, Sukumar was one of the most popular humour writers of his time. Edappal Ponnamkuzhi Veettil Parameswaran Sukumaran Nair (10 June 1948 – 16 June 1997), known mononymously as Sukumaran, was an Indian actor and producer of Malayalam films. Sukumaran became a popular film star in Malayalam cinema during the 1970s. He was considered one of the superstar trios of Malayalam cinema during the late 1970s and early 1980s along with Soman and Jayan. Later, he became known for his character roles and antagonistic roles during the 1980s and 1990s, notably the villain in ''CID Unnikrishnan B.A., B.Ed.''(1994) and ''Onnaam Muhurtham''(1991), playing character roles in films like ''Souhrudam''(1990). In 1978, he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in M. T. Vasudevan Nair's ''Bandhanam''. As a producer, he produced such films as ''Irakal'' and ''Padayani''. The Kerala Sahitya Akademi or Academy for Malayalam literature is an autonomous body established to promote the Malayalam language and Malayalam literature, literature. It is situated in City of Thrissur, Kerala in India. History The academy was inaugurated on 15 October 1956, by Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, the former king of Travancore, in Thiruvananthapuram. It was shifted to its present location at City of Thrissur in September, 1957. Veloor Krishnankutty
N. K. Krishnankutty, popularly known as Veloor Krishnankutty ( ml, വേളൂർ കൃഷ്ണൻകുട്ടി, 19 September 1927 – 22 August 2003), was an Indian satirist of Malayalam literature. Kerala Sahitya Akademy awarded him their Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Miscellaneous Works, annual award for miscellaneous works in 1974. Biography Veloor Krishnankutty was born on September 19, 1927 in Velur in the present day Kottayam district, then in Travancore to N. N. Kunjunni and Parvathi Amma. His education was at M. D. Seminary, Kottayam and CMS College Kottayam. His career started as a journalist in ''Deepika (newspaper), Deepika'' where he used to write a column under the pen name ''Pathraparayanan'', and became the editor of the ''Deepika'' weekly. Later, he sat in the editorial board of ''Keraladhwani'' for eight years. ''Kerala Kaumudi'' is a Malayalam language daily newspaper published from Kerala, India. It was founded in 1911 by C. V. Kunhiraman as a periodical. His son K. Sukumaran later served as the newspaper's editor.
