''Sujatha'' is a 1980 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Vasudevan, starring Vijayan, Shankar, Saritha, Sukumari, Rajalakshmi, Vanitha Krishnachandran, Major Sundarrajan and Raveendran. It is a remake of the Malayalam film ''Shalini Ente Koottukari''. Plot summary ''Sujatha'' is the story of a brother and sister, played by Shankar and Saritha respectively. Shankar commits suicide to stop the forced marriage initiated by their father Major Sundarrajan, as she does not want to marry. The film shows light in Saritha's life, when she meets a new college lecturer Vijayan. M. Mohan is an Indian director of Malayalam films. Mohan has done several notable acclaimed films including '' Pakshe'', ''Isabella'', '' Oru Katha Oru Nunnakkatha'', ''Idavela'', ''Vida Parayum Munpe'', ''Randu Penkuttikal'' and ''Shalini Ente Koottukari''. ''Shaalini Ente Koottukaari'' is a 1978 Indian Malayalam film, written by Padmarajan and directed by Mohan. The film is loosely based on a story of Padmarajan named "Parvathikutty". The film stars Shobha, Jalaja, Sukumaran and Venu Nagavalli in the lead roles. The film has musical score by G. Devarajan. Nagesh (born Cheyur Krishnarao Nageshwaran; (27 September 1933 – 31 January 2009) was an Indian actor, mostly remembered for his roles as a comedian in Tamil films during the 1960s. Nagesh was born in Dharapuram. He acted in over 1,000 films from 1958 to 2008, performing in a variety of roles as comedian, lead roles, supporting actor and antagonist. Thengai Srinivasan (21 October 1937 – 9 November 1987) was an Indian actor who appeared in Tamil language, Tamil-language films and plays from the 1960s to the 1980s. He was given the prefix ''Thengai'' (coconut) after his role as a coconut-seller in the play ''Kal Manam''. Although originally a comedian, he also performed in other genres and enacted several lead and antagonistic roles. P. Padmarajan (23 May 1945 – 23 January 1991) was an Indian film maker, screenwriter and author who was known for his works in Malayalam literature and Malayalam cinema. He was the founder of a new school of film making in Malayalam cinema, along with Bharathan and K. G. George, in the 1980s. Padmarajan was known for his detailed screenwriting and expressive direction style and made some of the landmark motion pictures in Malayalam cinema.
